The belt was squealing real loud when we started the car and then heard something fall off and from what I can tell by diagrams it was the crankshaft pulley

You must have one pulley out of alignment, or else one of the pulleys you replaced doesn't have as many ribs as your belt, or you are getting it on crooked, or not the right way. Make sure you have ribs to ribs, and flat to flat.

It would be in your best interest to just replace the wobbly (worn idle pulley) trying to jury rig something will only cause you further frustration in my experience.
