This is a factory original system and I have found no reason for the alarm to go off (horn sounds and lights flash). I have to use the power locks to lock the rear gate and that seems to be a factor but not the only issue.
I have manually unlocked one of the front doors and manually relocked it thinking that would disarm the system but sometimes even that doesn't keep the alarm from sounding off.
Doesn't seem to matter if it is cold out or warm out. I've left the dome light off on the panel but that too doesn't seem to be a cureall although it seems to reduce the likelihood of the alarm going off.
Help! My neighbors are getting tired of the late night intrusions!
SOURCE: remote lock for back doors and rear tail gate door
Actually I found a solution. I remove the lock relay form the fuse panel and placed it back in place. I did not replace it. After doing this they worked. I probably need to replace the relay at some point, but for now that solved the problem. It was hard for me to believe that there is a separate relay for the lock and unlock circuit.
SOURCE: no dome light when passenger door open
Since the passenger door doesn't get used as much as the drivers door, check to see if the switch is not just stuck. It is a little button with a spring that opens up and turns the light on. It is located on the hinge area of the door and when the door closes it shuts off the switch, if it is not stuck then I would suspect said switch.
SOURCE: Power door locks won't unlock + tailgate won't open
your issue involves the master control switch panel on the drivers side and or the passenger side as well some how the contact inside the switch assembly has either shorted out or no longer makes contact for the unlock side of the circuit. replace the drivers side panel switchs it's either a series of switc hs or mostimes one sigle board of switchs. you are better off going to an auto parts store rather than a GM dealership this will save you quite a bit on cash on the parts. now as to the rear tailgate. if it is electronic controled and there is an issue with the master switch you can,t manually unlock it because of a safty issue built in the system. you can manually unlock the passenger compartment doors for thew same reasons of safety but doesn't apply to the tailgate. just replace the parts and this will take care of the problem
SOURCE: locks go crazy, alarm goes off, now the car won't start.
I've had this problem under warranty on my '05 Malibu LS. They replaced and reprogrammed the fobs. Looking in my shop manual, it seems the problem is from the content theft deterrent (CTD) system. My car started doing this two years later off warranty and now I just lock the doors from the outside with the key or by pushing the lock stem buttons by hand on each door. The security option in the DIC needs to be set to RKE for this to work though.

I have the same problem on my '01 Blazer and am looking for a solution.
I have the same problem also. If the doors are locked with the remote the alarm will go off. If the doors are locked by hand it will not. The dome light also will not go off but this is intermitent. I have unplugged all of the door switches that could turn on the lights and still the dome light is on. I have to use the dome overide button to make it go off. The Chevy dealer told me it might be the body control module.
I am having the same problem with my 99 Blazer. I am convinced that there is a sensor that thinks a door is ajar -- this causes the dome light to stay on (has to be overriden) and the driver side power door not to lock (can be locked manually). Occasionally, things go back to normal. I think this is related to the problem with the alarm, which seems to go off some time after the door is locked with the remote or with the power switch. If the car is left unlocked or locked manually, it doesn't seem to happen. I can live with the other stuff, but the alarm going off is driving me and my neighbors crazy!
I am having a similar issue my 99 blazer is randomly locking and unlocking itself (even though I have the battery out of the remote) and then setting the alarm off. I am getting annoyed with it going off every 30-45 min it isn't provoked at all. I literally unhook my battery to keep it from going off. I need to know what to do. I was told from the Chevy dealer its a possibility that its a shortage in the wiring, but my mechanic said the automatic lock actuator could be the issue too. I am going to leave battery unhooked til I know what to do!!
