1989 Chevrolet K1500 - Page 5 Questions & Answers
HI I have a1989 chevy
With the older drum brake system going in reverse will often tighten the adjuster on the brake mechanism. The adjuster has a thumb wheel to adjust the shoes in and out. BUT there should be a little plate that locks the thumb wheel once you are where you want it to be. I would guess that either you don't have that little plate or it is not keeping that thumb wheel from turning on the right side.
Why did the speed needle stop working
The problem would most likely be a broken cable. You would not see this from looking at it as the working part is rotating inside the sheath. Another problem could be the speedometer though less likely. You also want to make sure it is still connected at both ends. Your best bet would be to take it to a mechanic who has the equipment to troubleshoot though I would just replace the cable as old as it is.

Where is the bleeder screw for a 1989
I'm not sure i understand what your asking exactly ...There is no bleeder on the power steering .
Just fill the reservoir on the pump and turn the wheels back and forth with the lid off and burp the air out and top it off as needed.
How do you bleed a power steering pump
hi.
power steering pumps do not normally need bleeding. just slowly turn the steering from one side full lock, to the other side and back a few times. this will get rid of any air in the system. keep an eye on the fluid leve while you are doing it though.
any problems after doing this would suggest a different problem, rather than air in the system
Tilt steering wheel loose 1989
Not a fun job sorry!
1) Remove horn button.
2) Remove steering wheel.
3) Remove turn signal/cruise lever and cancel cam.
4) Remove tilt pins with a pin puller(about $10)
5) Tighten the four loose screws that hold tilt mechanism to the column.
Be happy you do not have airbags.
1989 k-1500 700 trans. you have to let the gas go
your kickdown cable is in need of adjustment needs to be let out a bit will probably cure 80% of your problem its right next to the throttle cable at your throttle body its kinda hard to get, i use a screw driver to push it from the driver side towards the passenger side
HAVE AN 89 CHEVY 4WD w/ 350 5.7> l. will not go
Has the fuel filter been replaced with the fuel pump or it could be a restriction in the exhaust. In order to check that properly you would need a back pressure gauge and measure back pressure or just disconnect exhaust from the manifolds and drive it around and see if all the power is back.
(IT'S GOING TO BE LOUD) Let me know.
Just bought 89 chevy k1500 z71 oil gage reads
As far as the brake, your brake switch button may be stuck. It is above the brake pedal and looks like a chrome cylinder. There is a button on the end. See if you can get it loose. As far as the oil guage, the sending unit may be defective, Make sure the oil level is good in the engine.
Upper ball joints/ '89 silverado 1500 4x4
I think the lower ball joints when removing will give you easier access to the top. I would suggest going to the local parts store for a print out of the procedure to be on the safe side.
