1989 Chevy pickup we replaced all of the break lines and master

There is probably still just some air in the system, it only takes a small amount to have no pedal. Did you bench bleed the master cyl before installing? Start bleeding the brakes again, start with the wheel the greatest distance from the master cyl. bleeding until no air is evident, working your way closer to the master cyl, doing the closest wheel to it last. Check all the new brake line connections. A slightly loose connection would allow air into the system, making it impossible to bleed it all out. Make sure the master cyl level never drops too low, or you will be pulling in air and have to start all over. Good luck.

Why won't headlight go in on a 1989 chevrolet

Its possible that the head light isn't the issue, i could be something as simple as a broken or corroded wire. but then again that's not that simple because you have to find it. or it could be a fuse. check the fuse box. on some vehicles there is separate fuses and relays for both head lights. another issue might be the connections on the head light plug.

Your rear tail shaft seal is leaking and it can be replaced, you may have a worn shaft and will need to buy a speedy sleave at any parts store and a new rear transmisson seal both costs about $20.00 and is not to hard to change, you need to replace the fluid with Dexron II or Dexron III or the new fluid that works in all cars. If you need more help let me know.

You may have a seized disc caliper piston on the front brakes, particularly if the vehicle had been through deep water prior to being stored.
Check that pistons are free to move back into the caliper cylinder if pads levered apart with a suitable tool.
If badly seized the caliper assembly should be replaced or re-conditioned.

I need information and digrams on how to change a

Of all engines ever produced, that has to be the easiest to change the chain on. Remove anything on the front of the engine that's in your way, remove the crank damper with a harmonic balancer pulley and remove the front cover. Normally the top gear and the chain are the only items that need replacement. The top gear has a reference mark on it. Point the mark straight down. The bottom gear is also marked turn the crank so it points straight up, in line with the other mark. Put the chain on the top gear and loop the bottom over the bottom gear and place the top gear on the cam, without allowing it to turn.

If any plastic gear teeth are lying in the front of the oil pan, scoop them out with your fingers. Make sure that all gasket material has been completely removed, and wipe all gasket surfaces clean with a rag with carb cleaner on it...especially where the pan meets the block . Discard the bottom gasket and grind about a third of the inner cover lip off and fill the cavity with rtv silicone so it bulges at the top (nice big fat bead) Install wet, placing the bottom part in first and don't slide it around. make sure the two locating studs are through the cover and put all bolts back in finger tight. Smooth over any silicone that squeezed out of the bottom and leave it to "skin over" (about half hour).Finish tightening the cover and replace everything you removed.
Although it is not a terribly difficult job, I do suggest you get a haynes or chilton's manual to help guide you. They are inexpensive and will help with many other items as well.
Good Luck.

Rear main seal leak

Hi,

If somebody told you that you have a main seal leak what they meant was the round seal that is around the circumference of the output shaft of the crank. This same output shaft is basically hooked up to the transmission, or through to the transimission through a clutch. Well after some time, the round seal, it looks something like a flat donut, leaks. Imagine stretching a small spring around a shaft of steel and wrapping the spring in rubber. It will stop the oil from leaking along the shaft and out of the engine. After wear and tear, it needs to be replaced.

If this is the case, well, given that you have not said what type of vehicle you have, you would need to either pull the engine out or drop or pull out the transmission to get at the shaft and replace the $10 seal part. A lot of work for a small item but it will continue to leak until of course you run out of oil and ruin the motor.

I hope this helps somewhat.

I have an 1989 Chev 4x4 that will not start

I would start by inspecting the wiring harness where it goes into the fuse boxt.... look for a loose ground, broken wires, etc.... Make sure all the connections fit snugly and check for corrosion and signs of shorting. If it's been sitting in your garage for that long mice may have got to the wiring.
