Check the basics, spark, fuel and compression. Make sure that your starter circut is recieving the battery voltage it needs to operate. The starter relay or igntion fuse maybe suspect as well.

How do i locate the failing part for ac not working

you need to try to charge the system with r-134 make sure that the r-134 has die in it. while you are at the parts store get the test kit that has glasses and a uv light. run the car for about 15 min after charging the ac system. shut off the vehicle and start searching for the leak with the glasses and the light. with all that being said i am telling you this only after you charge the ac and the compressor comes on. if the compressor does not come on after you charge the system replace the compressor, reciver dryer, and orifice tube

Service engine soon. scan code

This is an evap small leak code and is most likely caused by the gas cap. The computer and evap pressure sensor determines if the evap system has any leakage and that is why the code is setting. Most Blazers have a plastic strap that is attached to the cap, make sure that the strap is not getting caught under the cap and preventing a good seal. The rubber seal on the cap may also be damaged so check that too. Also when you get gas, over the years the inside of the filler tube gets knocked by the nozzle and that damage could prevent good sealing as well. Other issues with this code could be in the evap system components such as the evap canister, related solenoids, and hoses. This would have to be checked at a shop for you. The first place to check is the gas cap itself and even replace it you suspect it since they are not expensive and you can do this yourself. As stated by one of the other posts, you can leave the battery disconnected to reset the code, but only do this after you fix the problem or as a temp. solution since the code will only return shortly.

Wont complete scan to pass emission test

When you rest your codes there is a series of tests your ECU has to go through before you can pass emissions. this is done some people can reset the code and go before its sets the code again. on the 96 you can have 2 tests not complete for it to pass. basicly you have to drive the car a couple days for the tests to pass.

check the readiness tests wait until only 2 have not passed. then you should be good.so drive and check.

I have a 1996 chevy blazer and dont know how to

As I recall the 96 blazer had electronic shifting for 2wd to 4wd. There should be a small panel on the drivers dash buttons for 2wd, 4wd lo and 4wd hi.

Simply press the desired button while stationary and if the system is functioning properly then it will shift and the light for the engaged type of drive will be lighted. Generally you would like to be in 2wd for this vehicle.

Won't start, i take the

It could be a couple of reasons but from my experience in most cases you are looking at a bad ignition control module. If you are not getting ANY spark at all to the spark plugs. I'm not saying just go and replace it because it could be a number of things like a bad ECM or the fuse going to the ECM or even a bad camshaft position sensor. The ignition control module costs about $70.00 and like I said is the most common but check the others first. I would start at the fuses. The ignition control module is mounted on the side of the distributer and I gave you a picture below of what one looks like for your vehicle. I hope this helps and good luck.
