94 VW golf 1.8 auto

Start by checking the wiring to the VSS (sensor) . Plug has 3 wires. One of the outside wires should have 12 volts when ignition on. Other outside wire should have an earth of no more than 5 ohms impedance. Centre wire should give an earth pulse when gearbox is turning. If live and earth are good, but no pulse, then sensor or its drive gear is broken. Problem is usually sensor suffering ppor earth connection. Ok to cut earth wire before sensor and atach to sutable earth point.

I have vw golf 1994

It's probably a wiring problem, when VW wire harness's get old the insulation tends to crack and rub bare. This can cause large amounts of grief, trying to find them.
Probably, your best bet would be to go to vwvortex.com. This is a forum especially for VW's. It's free and covers technical problems as well as a lot of other stuff. When the home page comes up you want to go into technical (VW and Audi). Once in there you will see a page of forums sorted by car and engines. Click on the one that applies to your car. Once in there click on the FAQ first, quite often there are solutions to a lot of common problems in there. If not there is a search box on the upper right hand side of the page, type in there and search. It will bring up all the threads on that subject, even if they aren't your car so read carefully although a lot of these things are common in different models.
If you can't find a fix then you will have to register to ask a question. It's free and takes about 15 minutes to get a password. Write it down because their site doesn't seem to let your computer remember it. Hope this helps.

Volkswagen golf GTI 1994 2L automatic window wont

Do you mean the car is automatic or the window? (punctuation required :o) If by automatic window, you mean pull it up 2 clicks and it closes all the way, same for down then it probably needs resetting. Most manufactures have a self-set procedure which is as follows. with ignition on, hold the window button down for 20 seconds, then hold it up for 20 seconds then repeat the process 1 more time. This resets most brands of electric window.
Hope this helps.

Car won't start even after spraying starter fluid

Was the car running ok prior to this no start?Did it start missing or loosed power?
The horn thing is unusual but can be triggered by cars alarm system or ECU fault.
Does car have an alarm?was the battery run flat or changed just prior to this fault?
They both will inhibit spark if alarm locked on or faulty,as for ECU fault.
Depending on the model. They have a coil mounted on the fire wall that does fail.Check for spark at the centre tower with insulated pliers and holding the lead close to a bare metal area of engine area.
Run a test light on +ve side of coil.if it has power to it.it will light.the other side should flash on crank to indicate trigger from distributor.if ok and no output from tower lead, replace coil.
The model described;to access the coil bolts that fall inside panel when loosened, remove the plastic grille below the wipers.
I hope this helps or get back to me with your findings.

Volkswagen golf GTI 1994 2L wont turn over,

Hi, the likely problem is your safety interlock. If you have a manual transmission, the interlock is above the clutch pedal. If you have automatic trans, the interlock may be on the shifter or the transmission. Let me know if you can't find it.

Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r6222268-engine_doesnt_crank_turn_over . These are generic instructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me with model, year and engine info.

Hi i replaced the water

Hi.

If you did not bleed the coolant lines it can be air pocket in the water lines or in the radiator, more commonly the problem is either thermostat or blockage thermostat housing.

Ensure that the water can flow through the radiator and double check water pump and thermostat. As far as I can remember Golf Mk3 and 4 thermostat housing is located in the radiator lower hose, and it is easy to jump. With thermostat jumped fan will run all the time, and radiator will take more to get hot. Wait ten or fifteen minutes and see if lower part of radiator gets hot (I know, you replaced thermo already, but better spending 15 mins on this test, just in case).
Check also thermostat housing. That is a common place for obstructions.

If you do not find anything else bleed coolant. Bleed the radiator and do a complete flush.

I have the service manual for this model, but the manual is in French.

How do I change the springs on front of my vw polo

on the mk3 vw you just loosen the 7mm allen bolt on top (might need to shock it loose with air tools) and then when that bolt is loose you can jack the car up without needing spring compressors. the rest of the mounting bolts at the bottom you can loosen afterwards. fitting is reversal.

What car is best? a wolksvagen golf gti box 3

Hi.

The two cars are completely different.

One is front drive traction(VW), the other one is rear(BMW).

Sport performances are better int the BMW.

Safety standards are good in both cars.

On the other hand the BMW is quite more expensive to maintain (parts are more expensive, a bit more attention and service required, higher fuel consumption(13-14l/100km).

If the two cars are in the same shape, price and milege is similar I would buy the BMW. I suggest driving both cars before purchase if possible, driving style is much different.
