If you have never changed the O2 sensors on this car that is where I would start; replace all of them. Get OEM exact replacements versus "universal" fit O2 sensors. The Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF) may be dirty. There is specially formulated cleaner for removing any built up mung on the sensor. The PCV system can be checked for proper flow. Replace the PCV and/or clean the system if there is no valve. Bring the car in and have the injectors professionally cleaned. You're probably in the neighborhood of 165-170K. If you've never done any preventive or regular maintenance then there could be a lot of issues with your car. The P0174 is a lean condition. It could be bogus inputs to the engine management computer (via bad O2 sensors and/or a dirty or bogus MAF sensor). It could be really dirty injectors because they've never been cleaned and if you've been filling up with non-top tier fuel (because you're saving 2 cents a gallon) then it's a sure bet the injectors are dirty. Running lean comes from air leaks into the manifold post MAF sensor. This could be from rotted vacuum hoses or cracked/broken vacuum fittings. There's just too many possibilities to be able to nail it down for sure. Use the link and the info there to start your trouble shooting.

Hi Sc, The job is labour intensive and may solve the problem. I wonder if the fluid in the tranny has ever been replaced? It's meant to be replaced at least once a year. If it smells burned have it replaced. Ask your shop to check the gearbox and engine mountings and in the event of your vehicle having rear wheel drive, the universal joints on the prop shaft. If you look up the fuse lacations or wiring diagrams it should give you an idea on the location if not a definate location. they are usually located by the fuse panels. They also usually look like a plastic pill shaped bubble with a wire running through it. hope this helps.

new air filter all the air lines cleaned fuel filter changed, timing belt changed ( kit including pump) intake cleaned out, spark plugs and leads depending on year if has leads fitted. oil changed (filter as well, some people for get this ) ecu flushed ( removes setting for days gone by, people thing that the ecu just runs the engine it also save setting that the engine was running best at to the preprogrammed settings ie computer).

firstly does the starter motor kick in , it could be that there are teeth missing on the ring gear in the gearbox , try putting the car in gear try 5th gear rock the car backwards and forwards and try start it again if the ring gear has a few teeth missing it should start after you have done this I hope this helps

I would try an additive called trans ex. It is a cleaning type of liquid that smells just like lacquer thinner, wich works too. It does soften the rubber seals, I hope it helps ya. 60/40 chance it will Posted on Feb 04, 2015

check your overdrive switch it might be on

ticking noise is the lifters I am thinking without hearing it but I would try some stp oil treatment add it to your oil the other services you talked about like flushing out the radiator my cause you to start losing water or burning it the trans fluid change wouldn't hurt

Hi there, your MIL tells you something has had a problem in your electrical system, you will need to take it to your Local mechanic and have him scan the system on your car, they will then be able to tell you what's going wrong and also reset the lamp so it stays off

something is wrong you need a scanner , buy one at parts store read directions, find code fix problem

Check for loose belt, slipping balancer, or wrong size alternator pulley(too big diameter)

check the shift linkage . if shifter won't move the linkage is jammed if it moves freely its broken

Make sure it is not a door switch. They may seem alright but are known to fail. I'm having issue with mine and found that it was a switch.

Try having the key in the 'on' position then disconnect the engine battery for two minutes , reconnect and check system.

sounds like your window switch has finally stop working. Remember, this is the button that is used the most.

Autozone and EBAY (and many others) sell 12volt Electrical Fuel Pumps and you can do exactly what you are talking about BUT..... THIS IS NOT LEGAL and NOT SAFE Make sure you use a Toggle Switch to power up the Fuel Pump or the Power Source is from a KEY ON component. Running Line to the system is not difficult but where are you going to have the EVAP system return the un-used fuel? You are not making the best decision but be careful in whatever you do.
