Is it leaking oil or burning it i ask,as for a estimate of a repair then iam the wrong one here as iam in spain .Too know exactly whats wrong here i would need my gnarled old head under the bonnet with a cuppa in one hand ,ciggy in the other and kick it up the exhaust with my steel capped boots on .Now is theri blue smoke out the back or a puddle of oil underneath the engine then this would give me a better idea as to whats wrong

The CPU has found sensors that are out of parameters and has turn on the light to let you know something is faulty. Have the fault codes read and replace the sensor found to be faulty.

The following are the general instructions on the start of diagnosing any electronically controlled engine or transmission problem.

The engine and the automatic transmission (transmission control is only for automatics, engine is still computer controlled no matter the transmission type) in this vehicle are computer controlled and in most cases when a fault occurs a fault code is stored in the memory of the computer control module. There are exception to this, such as the Mass Airflow Meter and fuel pressure problems. What must be done is to have all the basic testing done such as a scan of the system for fault codes as well as a check with a live data scanner tool for engine functions that are not within range of normal, a trained technician is required to know what is correct and what isn't, then based on careful diagnostics done from a factory repair manual the correct part is replaced or the wiring repaired or the computer replaced (known as the PCM), which is very rarely the problem. Other basic checks must be done as well such as mechanical problems with the engine as well as engine state of tune and mileage on the engine. The transmission can have mechanical issues as well such as no gear engagement at all or a failed pump or other pressure related problems. Also engine mechanical problems ca cause many drive-ability related problem such as rough idle and other symptoms

It's been my experience (on a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT) that the EGR valve can cause piston lifters to malfunction leading to costly repair bills. The easiest and least expensive repair I've found is to disconnect the vacuum hose from the brake booster, and use it to **** some Seafoam into the EGR valve. This is only a temporary fix, though.

HelloThe engine and automatic transmission in this vehicles drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM (Power Train Control Module). Whenever a problem like this occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPENDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM

THE FUEL MILAGE ON THAT PARTICULAR VEHICLE SHOULD BE SOMEWHERE AROUND 17MPG IF IT IS EQUIPED WITH THE 4.0L V6. ONE THING YOU MIGHT WANT TO TRY IS TO RESET THE K.A.M. ON THE VEHICLE. THIS WILL RESET ALL OF THE FUEL CURVES AND OXYGEN SENSOR PARAMETERS AND ALLOW THE SYSTEM TO RE-LEARN HOW MUCH FUEL IS NEEDED TO RUN PROPERLY. TO DO THIS YOU CAN SIMPLY DISCONNECT THE NEGITIVE AND POSITIVE BATTERY CABLES AND LET THE VEHICLE SET FOR ABOUT 10-15 MIN. AFTER THAT TIME TOUCH THE TWO CABLES TOGETHER FOR ABOUT 15 SEC. AND THEN REINSTALL BATTERY CABLES ON BATTERY. THIS MAY HELP IN YOUR CASE BACAUSE WITH A NEW OXGEN SENSOR, THE COMPUTER IS NOT USED TO SEEING THE CORRECT READING SO WHEN IT DOES GET THE READING THAT IT NEEDS, IT DOES NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THEM.

THE PUMP HOUSE they only sell fuel pumps ,they have many of the Montero fuel sending units and the even have a nice plastic unit to do away with reusing a metal fuel sending unit that rust out over time. You need to have the body computer scanned for trouble codes. Most simple code readers will not access body computers.

It is against the law to release any freon into the enviroment it should be done by a shop where they hook up a machine that sucks the freon into a sealed container for disposal.

Should be two ports on the a/c lines with black or colored caps.One is bigger than the other to try to prevent you from connecting to the wrong side of the compressor.Sometimes one of the ports is on the back of the compressor.

check for spark at plugs and if theres spark then get some starting fluid and spray a little bit in air claener boxif it starts then ya have a fuel prob.
