You can save the film clips to a folder on your PC, then create the DVD from all of the ones you have chosen.

What software are you using to render and burn your DVDs ?

Try with a -R disc

Use software such as Freemake Video Converter to save the clips in another format.

It's overheating take it back pronto

It is about eight years old - you may need to replace the battery.

You do not need drivers to get the footage from tape to a Mac. You do require a firewire cable and use iMovie or Final Cut to capture.
