Can i use the dehumidifier without the additional heater? OR how can i improve the performance of the dehumidifier without increasing the output of the heater?

I see that you are having a complication with your Frigidaire dehumidifier going back to 30% after setting it. This could be a possible issue with your sensor or control panel. From what you have described you would like to use your Frigidaire dehumidifier for a heater. Unfortunately you are unable to use your dehumidifier as a heater. You dehumidifier will pull air from the room and distribute the same air. I would not recommend performing any alterations on your dehumidifier as that can void any warranty. From my understanding your Frigidaire dehumidifier is shutting off and on without removing any moisture from the air. I would recommend trying a different outlet within your basement and adjusting the setting to see if that would help. Additionally, try to turn the unit on continuous drain to see if it pulls any moisture out of the air. If you can gravity feed it and can get a hose around the output pipe then any flexible hose will work that is slightly larger than the output pipe.

The cycling is related to physics, different ambient temperatures will make it perform differently, over time. What matters is the output temp, (and the pressures).

Approached unit with air of trained appliance repair professional. Found Chinese-made product of vastly inferior quality, began series of tests, moving on to systematic disassembly finally sledgehammering the unit thence noting it failed to improve performance. resolved to not buy junk made in China or elsewhere. I've been "fix-ya'd" all right! Over and out.

Additional heat from a dehumidifier should only be the electrical heat generated from the compressor. This is due to the fact that the cooling coil and condenser coil (hot bit) are normally located next to each other with a common airflow so the heat generated should be minimal. Hope this helps.
