20 Most Recent DeLonghi DDE40E Dehumidifier Questions & Answers

Calling two service centers, they both indicated that the main circuit board needed replacing. This would need shipping the unit!!, part and then labor. I figured over $120 - not reasonable. I then took the unit apart and followed the wires from the compressor to the back of the unit. This is where the moisture sensor was located - upper left. You'll see this when you take the filter off. Anyway, I cleaned the face of this part with a old toothbrush, used some compressed air to remove any dust. I then followed the wires with the black sleeve that went to what I think is a temperature sensor - also on the left. The wires go to a sensor that is pushed into a copper tube that is part of the cooling tubing. Gently pull this out, wipe it down and re-install. I then plugged the unit in, set the humidity level and it now works. I just put the unit back together and the compressor is turning on and collecting moisture! I will run it a few days and keep checking on it to make sure it doesn't go into the 'E3' Mode. By the way, the repair shops I called really didn't have a clue what the E3 code was. Dennis

dehumidifiers do not have a temperature control, rather, they have a humidity control. usually you set the humidity control to go off when the level of moisture in the room reaches normal (approx. 25-35% winter;38-55% summer). Best way is to run it at full on for 1 to 4 days (until you know the moisture level is how you want it), then turn the knob until the unit goes off . This will be the ideal setting. "E3" code the condensor sensor is bad.It has to be checked and replaced. E3 error message which apparently means the air is working and it has internal frost. It then stops cooling the air and waits for itself to defrost.

Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

The E3 Code, indicates that the air intake filter needs to be removed and cleaned. Be sure the unit is OFF and unplugged before removing the filter. Filter cleaning should be performed at least once every two weeks, as part of Routine Maintenance.

all this info is in the manual. Either you threw it away or are a person who does not like to read.

On the back there are two top screws, two middle screws, and one bottom screw. Make sure the hose attachment is off. On the front there are two bottom screws. Each side has one screw at the bottom (longer than the rest). Remove all that I have mentioned. You will need to wiggle the two halves apart but they will come. Once the back has been removed, there are two more screws on the inside that need to come out before you can get the front sleeve off. Good luck.

The tank may be full. Your dehumidifier has a safety device that turns off the dehumidifier when the water tank is full. Usually the tank itself either presses against a switch or there's a device connected to the tank that triggers a switch when the tank is in place and full.

If you've emptied the tank and the unit doesn't run, inspect the place where the tank rests to see if there's a switch or mechanism that's not being activated. You may be able to turn it on with a simple flick of your finger.

Usually happens when the float valve is stuck in the down or up position try wiggling the handle to release or if the collection bucket is not sitting perfectly on the safety switch has to be down square I have the delonghi dem10 model always empty and unplug before checking

Dear Heemin,
From the wording which you have used, it appears you think you are talking to the DeLonghi company.
You are not.
You are speaking to "fixya:".
Please contact DeLonghi or one of it's dealers by finding their access information on your computer's search engine.
God bless your efforts.
