D-Link DIR-625 (790069292637) Wireless Router Logo
Anonymous Posted on Jul 10, 2011

My router suddenly stopped working yesterday and I've tried everything I can think of to fix it. I have one computer wired directly in to it and a few laptops that use wireless connections. The power LED and the internet LED light up, but the status LED and the WLAN LED do nothing. Pushing the factory reset button on the back doesn't seem to do anything. (Held for 20 sec, then released) Can't connect to the router site (192.168.0.1) The internet works fine when I plug in to it directly, so its definitely the router.

Yeah I mentioned in my original post that pressing the reset button wasn't doing anything. I think my router may just be completely screwed up.

There is a reset known as a 30/30/30 reset. Hold reset with power on for 30secs, unplug power while still holding reset for 30 secs, plug power in while holding reset for 30 seconds more and release, wait 30 secs or more for reboot. This should put it back to factory defaults regardless of brand. Set your IP manually on the PC to be 192.168.0.2 Open your web browser and type in the IP address of the router (192.168.0.1 by default). Enter the username (admin) and password (blank by default), and then click Ok or Log In

I specified that I couldn't access that IP

  • Anonymous Jul 11, 2011

Yes I understand, but I believe you attempted to access it using a wireless computer that's why it wont work. If you are able to access the Internet through wired connection it means that the wired connection is OK. But have you tried typing 192.168.0.1 on a wired computer that is able to get online?

    Thank you1

I'm sorry when you say you plug it in directly you mean you bypass the router? I need clarification on this one. Thank you!

  • Anonymous Jul 11, 2011

Yes, I mean bypass the router.

  • Anonymous Jul 11, 2011

OK. Try this please. Do a hard reset push the reset button for a minute make sure all the lights on the router are off while you are pressing the reset pinhole. Release the button and let the router reboot for 1 minute. If the status light is still not lit. Unplug the power cord wait for 30 secs and plug it back in.

    Thank you

  • Anonymous Jul 11, 2011

What do you mean make sure the lights are off, you mean i should unplug the router?

  • Anonymous Jul 11, 2011

No, when you press the reset pin hole all the lights should shut off. When you release it after 1 minute lights should start turning on again but you have to wait for 1 minute before accessing the configuration page.

    Thank you!

    Hi,

If the lights wont response at all when you press the reset button, your router is totally busted. At least try to follow the instructions I gave you. I worked for D-Link as for 2 years before as a technical support. This would be the last thing we normally try. If it doesn't work we process replacement if it's still in warranty. Since we process replacement it's an indication that is a mechanical problem on the router.

    Thank you!

Are you using a router? Do you use cable internet? Try connecting directly the cable directly into your netbook. If you have internet access then the issue may be with your router.

D-Link wireless router has been greta, until yesterday- the Roku boxes say my router strength is excellant, but all of a sudden, the box can no loger connect to the Internet even when I select my router-...

The router most likely is not synced properly with the modem. Your computer might still have a strong connection to the router, but isn't getting an IP address. Power everything down, including the modem and restart in this order:
1. Modem - allow a minute for it to run thru its diagnostics 2. Router 3. Computer
Once you've done this, if you're ISP isn't having outages, you should have the internet working again on your computer. If this doesn't work, call your provider.

SB4100 stopped working suddenly

well that takes 4 basic things,
ISP not down
model show LED online does it.
and router not dead.
and PC not dead.
so connect PC wired ethernet to modem directly
work now?
that ipconfig tells me router is dead, if wired, ethernet.
wifi is last, we work that last not first.
we own a $15 ,15foot ethernet cable for your kit.
or call a tech that has one.
if 2 PC Fail WIRED DIRECT TO ROUTER. THEN ROUTER IS DEAD (LEDS MUST BE LOOKED AT FIRST THERE)
SO WE CALL ISP AND THEY FIX IT , IT IS THEIR ROUTER
ALSO ISP GO DOWN FROM TIME TO TIME.
SO AGAIN MODEM LED SHOW WHAT?

My router stopped working suddenly last night

Try The Reset Switch on the back...Then If that doesnt solve the problem plug it directly into a computer alone and go to your web browser and type in http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.2.1 It is usually your default ip of your Router and look for a reset link...if that doesnt work try a firmware upgrade from NetGears Website

Suddenly router stopped working!

Hi jsamanta!

First of all check if the power light is blinking or solid. if it's blinking reset your router.

When your computer is directly connected to the router try checking the IP address by clicking start>run> type cmd then ok. then type ipconfig then hit enter. IP address should be something like 192.168.1.100. not 169.254.xx.xx. if it's the latter reset your router. use a ball point pen or a paper clip. the reset button is a small hole at the back. If the IP address is like the first one i've mentioned. log-in to your router.

launch browser (internet explorer or firefox)
type http://192.168.1.1 or whatever your default gateway is. go to the status tab and check if you are getting a WAN or internet IP address. if not you will see a "release" and "renew" button. hit release then renew. if you're still not getting anything. do a power cycle. turn everything off. connect everything the way they are supposed to be connected. turn on modem first then router then computer.

If everything fails the last options is a firmware update on the router.

Hope this helps. =)
