Hi,

It could be a screen issue, you may try the following steps to resolve the issue.

  • Turn Off the printer and Turn it back On
  • If the printer is directly to a wall outlet, if it's connected to a power surge or UPS.
  • Unplug the power cable from the back of printer without turning it off (this does a force reset)
  • Unplug the other end from the wall outlet
  • Wait for 10 seconds
  • Plug the cable back to the printer and the wall outlet
  • If issue still persist it's a display issue
  • You can contact HP on 1-800-474-6836 to service the product or take it to local store

I want reset my hp officejet 6500A

Hi. To reset an HP Officejet 6500 E709a or 6500 Wireless E709n, follow these simple steps:
1. Press the (*) and (#) buttons on the printer control panel at the same time and let go.
2. Use right and left arrows to scroll trhough menu and select "Resets"
3. Select "Semi-Full" reset and printer will shut off in a few seconds.
4. Unplug the printer from wall and wait 30 seconds.
5. Plug in the printer, Turn printer on and selec basic settings.
Your printer is now reset!!!

To clear jam , you can perform the link below

if still you get the message, remove the cartridges from printer.
clean them with a cotton swab and distilled water and perform the steps below and once it is done, insert the cartridges when asked by the printer.

1. Unplug the power cable from printer when the printer is powered on.

2. Press and hold Plus (#) and 6 while plugging in the power cord.

The belt that moves the carriage back and forth may be broken. Have a certified technician verify this and you may be able to have the belt replaced.
