try these suggestions change the needle rethread the machine top 7 bobbin ---make sure the presser foot is in the up position before rethreading--use every thread guide clean under the needle plate & in the bobbin area for lint make sure the thread has not come off the thread take up lever make sure the bobbin is turned the right way in the bobbin case & that the bobbin is not over full
Clean out the bobbin area if there are any thread tangles there.
Refer to the maintenance section of the manual - see the configuration of the bobbin case and shuttle race? The bobbin case as an extending arm and the race a notch. When inserting the bobbin case into the shuttle, turn the handwheel so the needle is at it's highest position. Then lift the lever on the back of the bobbin case and insert the cast into the shuttle, arm pointing straight up toward the bed of the sewing machine.
Now thread the machine with the presser foot up - always - and see if the tangling stops.
When you forget to lift the presser foot before threading the machine, the tension control does not open to capture the thread. Then when you begin to sew, the top thread has no tension, and the bobbin thread, which does have tension, pulls the top thread to the bottom in messy loops.
Your top threading is wrong, try this test before you sew, pull on the thread with the presser foot up, it should feed smoothly, then put the presser foot down and pull, it should barely move. Clean out the machine bobbin area with your brush. You cannot sew if you have all kinds of lint, thread etc there. Now put in a new needle, flat side face rear of machine. Read your manual, its available at www.singerco.com for free under customer support. You can also call them for the dvd that came with the machine. Call them at 1-800-4singer for advice if what I told you does not work. Good luck
There has to be a problem in your threading or your needle. You may have the needle inserted backwards, flat side has to face rear or the needle is bent. Totally unthread your machine and make sure that there are no tangles and that it feeding the right way. Watch how they show your for threading and winding the bobbin, plus threading the bobbin. Good luck, but I truly think it is in your threading.
Check to see if the thread coming off the spool is tangling on the spool pin or getting caught in the crack on the spool top where the thread originally comes off spool. Make sure the spool pin is pushed all the way to the right to secure your thread and then back it off slightly so the thread pulls evenly off the spool. Whenever your bobbin thread gets bunched it is usually something is wrong with the threading of the UPPER thread and vice versa. Let me know if this solves your problem.
I'm new to sewing, and I had a similar problem where the top thread went all the way around the bobbin thingy and got stuck every time--solution: the bobbin case wasn't all the way in. The arm had to go in a slot at the top and it sort of snapped in, then it worked fine. Maybe it will help you!
Sounds like timing of hook/needle. The needle should go down, a mechanism in the bobbin area moves to sweep the top thread around to pick up the bottom thread. Suggest taking it to a service technician, preferrably one authorized to repair your brand of machine. Check website for your brand and it might list authorized dealers close to you. Good luck.
