Bought at Staples, went past deadline policy by 5 days, they can't help. Gave me Panasonic #, who wanted me to ship to Texas. I got it working by making sure all plugs were in properly but has happened again after transcribing a few reports. Put new tapes in, tried a different foot pedal, nothing working....

If the time is past the 14 to 28 day refund policy deadline most retailers set they are probably not obliged to refund you. Your device will have a warranty presumably , usually for a year or more, under which they are obliged to replace or repair the item. You may choose to take advantage of this option.. There may well be consumer legislation protecting your rights.
Good Luck
High pitch noises are very difficult to isolate. Since you have replaced the refrigerator, I would look for something else in the immediate vicinity that might be generating the sound.
The power supply board have fail badly, all that high pitch screeching sound,it came from those high voltages gaps from those tranformers, that giving ur tv high voltages. The power supply board, that the board, where the power a/c cord plug into it.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
The high pitch sound may come from the brake pads as metal parts hit the disc to signal the owner that it needs change. The metal parts gets exposed when the pads have worn out. The brake also has a hub to cover the disc. See if the metal plate is hitting it but this issue would appear when the wheels are in motion. Check if it is the belts, have the tension checked out. Other than that the bearings are the other items on your wheel that could cause a high pitched sound when you car is in motion.
I am to believe that your static sensor on the playing head is touching the the head and it sould not. just bend it up "slightly" and the noise should disappear
