This is usually caused by a defective CCD image sensor and can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

I have a sony camcorder DCR-HC48. My viewfinder is not working and I would like to know if there is any way to fix it? The screen is just grey when the camera is on.

Does the viewer screen work when playing back a tape? If yes, then you have may have a sensor problem with the camera. If the playback tape does not appear on the viewer screen, then it sounds like a faulty connection between the camera and the viewer screen. In either case, you will probably need to discuss repairs with Sony Tech Support / Video Camera Repair. The number as listed on their website: Priority Service Line (for U.S. only): 239-768-7547

After you wade through the recorded-message-menu-maze and get to Camcorder Repair Department, you will receive quality assistance for the issue. (I recently had a similar problem with one of my Sony cameras and had to call them to schedule repairs.)

My Canon G9 was working fine but now movie clips are playing correctly when viewed on the camera's LCD screen but when downloaded to my laptop the image aspect ratio is incorrect and the picture looks...

i beleive that your issue is a setting in the program you are using to view the video. the camera will never skew a video. you may want to change the aspect ratio in the camera to match your viewer, but you should at least be able to set the viewer to maintain aspect ratios on video viewing. try viewing the videos with a different program. i.e. if you are using windows media player, try it with quicktime and see what happens. good luck

Sony CCD-TRV65. Blue screen during playback

Just bought the exact one from a yard sale for 20 bucks. Had the very same problem with the blue screen on playback. What i did is replace the battery in the small bay when you open the viewfinder. Try playing your tape again and it will work!

Blue screen

the video ribbon is probably not secure in its connector and as you open the door it is pulled from the simple housing it connects to these cameras are absolutely terrible the lcd screens will always fail because of a design defect in the ribbon and its routing and fastening.Inside the lcd screen to secure it they use electrical tape as a fastener so ridiculous.

Optic viewer blurred image

Not much that you can do with that, try adjusting the small focus lever on the underside of the viewfinder, as this might fix the blurred image, your lucky that you didn't, break something on the camera.
