Kenmore c970 612021 (or 621012), 6 yrs old, smooth cooktop, BAKE ELEMENT DOES NOT WORK. Replaced with new one. Still does not work. Temperature probe and emergency thermostat check out ok. Broil element, clock, timer, top elements, lights, outlets all work. Just the BAKE element DOES NOT WORK. What could be the problem?

Hello angeleyez82 - The EOC (electronic oven control/control board) basically sends power to both the broil and bake elements. As long as the power supply to the range (240VAC) and wiring between the elements is correct, then typically only the element(s) or EOC could prevent the unit from heating. I hope this information helps to some degree.

remove and take to appliance shop and they will match up for you. Make sure power is off before doing.

hi, Could be a bad bake element or a bad temperature sensor. If the element will glow bright red/orange with no hotspots it is OK. Take a volt/ohm meter set for ohms and check the temp sensor. If less than 1050 ohms replace it.

Usually, when an oven won't bake, it's because the bake element is burned out. The bake element is the black, pencil- thick tube at the bottom of the oven. When the oven heats, the element glows red. This element has an expected life-span of several years. It may last for only one; it may last for many more. When the element burns out, you need to replace it.
Since it is a Kenmore you can get the part at Sears.com. You can price the part there. I can assure you that a technician will charge you at least $125. to do that repair. If the range is old, you may wish to put that money toward a new stove.

Test the swtich w/ multi tester /connect tester as a jumper to the switch dettach one line on and off switch /if does not reponse / replace the switch.
