Since Macs are not compatible with 3' cd's the only way it could work is if you had an external cd drive. You can even get them cheap! Here is a link to one on a website. I never used this website to purchase anything but its just to show you what you might consider looking for!

Try viewing the files on a PC and copying them onto a USB memory drive and taking it across to your MAC to install.

Why does cd rom not conned to my macbook?

I'm not sure about this, because I have an internal CD/DVD in my macbook. But this can be a driver issue. Do you have an Apple CD drive, or an universal USB CD drive? The last one could be very tricky, because the computer needs special drivers, so it can recognise the external drive.

My CD rom is not working

No matter what type of laptop you own or how you use it, the CD-ROM or DVD drive is an important part of the unit. With the CD or DVD drive in place, you can play your favorite music or watch your favorite movies, so when that CD or DVD player stops working it is important to get it back in service as soon as possible.

1.Locate the bypass hole on the CD-ROM drive. There is a very small hole, generally located underneath the eject button, on every CD-ROM drive. Unbend a paper clip and insert it into the hole until the CD tray pops out.
2.Remove any CD that is in the tray and replace it with a CD laser lens cleaner. These laser lens cleaners are available at computer shops and electronics retailers.
3.Run the laser lens cleaning program, then try to play a CD again. If that CD fails to play, replace it with another CD and try again.
4.Shut the computer down and remove the AC power cord if cleaning the laser lens does not resolve the issue. Turn the laptop upside down and slide the battery release lever to the unlocked position.
5.Remove the battery and set it aside. Then locate the screws that hold the CD-ROM drive in place and remove those screws. Slide the CD-ROM drive out of the bay, then slide it back into the bay until it snaps securely into place. Replace the screws that hold the drive in place, turn the laptop back on and try to read the CD again.
6.Log on to your computer and right click on the "My Computer" icon. Select "Properties" from the menu and click on the "Hardware" tab. Click the "Device Manager" button and expand the CD-ROM section. Right click on the CD-ROM and choose "Update Driver" from the menu to download and install the latest device driver from the CD-ROM manufacturer.

I hope you find it very helpful. Thank you for using fixya

How do i install this drive?

Unplug the power cable from your power supply and open up your computer Don't forget to wear your antistatic wrist band. Determine which drive bay you are going to install a CD-ROM into. You should pick on of the uppermost drive bays. Before you install a CD-ROM, make sure you have the proper jumper settings. Since we are only installing a single CD-ROM, set the jumpers as MASTER. The jumper settings are different for each CD-ROM drive, so consult your owner's manual so you know which pins to cover up. Once you have the jumpers set, install your CD-ROM in the computer's case. How you secure the CD-ROM in one of the uppermost drive bays depends on your case. Some CD-ROM drives have to be screwed into the drive bay, while other cases come with brackets (like mine) to attach to the CD-ROM drive so that it slides into the drive bay and locks in place.

Connect the power to the back of the CD-ROM drive, then connect the ribbon cable to the back of the CD-ROM drive. Your ribbon cable has three connectors, one in the middle and one on each end. The middle connector is a "SLAVE" connector that is used if you would install an additional CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
Connect one of the end connectors to the CD-ROM drive, and connect the other end connector to the appropriate spot on your motherboard. Note, hard drives and CD-ROM drives have the same style of connector on the motherboard. You want to connect your CD-ROM drive to the motherboard slot that isn't red or is the highest numbered of all the IDE slots.

Power on your computer after you plug it in. Your computer should recognize the new CD-ROM. If it doesn't, Click start control panel administrive tools, computer management, device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question mark ? right click to update driver, roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver
Hope this helps

Please may anyone assist to get driveres for dvd/rom-rw cc-dt-st rw/dvd gcc-4418b

ther are no driers required for cd/dvd drivers/burners in any windows above win me, that is win2000, winxp, vista or win7, all of these recognise cd/dvd drivers automaticaly,

1. click on "my computer",
2 if you see your cd/dvd there, then click right mouse button on it, 3. click left mouse button on "eject",

if cd is ejected, nothing wrong with your cd/dvd.

if you do not see cd in "my computer" listing, you need to check if all cables are plug in properly on it, remove side from your computer and check connections.

if cd i snot reacting to "eject" command, you need new cd rom, they cost aobut $25 to $50, depending where you buy, and are very easy to change.

if you want to do that by yourself, and your computer is not notebook, then you need philips screwdriver and that is all...

1. switch off computer
2. remove power cord from computer
3. remove both sides from the computer (screws on the back are holding them or sometime they are self-lock, then you maybe need bit help from person who know how to deal with self-locks.
4. remove four screws from your cd-rom sides holding it.
5. push cd-rom slightly forward and remove power and data cable from the back, remembe what position they were up!
6, push cd-rom forward till you remove it from the case.
7. check pinouts (if any) on the back of the cd-rom and change new one to exactly same.
8. partially slide new cd-rom in so you can connect back data and power cable
9. slide new cd-rom fully and mount the screws
10. mount sides of the computer
11. insert power cord
12. start the computer and enjoy your movie...

if on other hand you need software to write cd/dvd then search in google or any other search engine for: "free cd/dvd burn software" you will have few millino entries... choose that which offer really free, not only free download and use it. download few and try all, keep that one which you find most useful and delete all rest...

if you find my advice useful, do not hesitate leave comment, or vote4 for me, or even both :-) thanx!

Need to install second cd driver in desktop computer

It would be much simpler to remove your current CD-ROM drive, and install a CD/DVD-reader-writer combination drive.

1. Turn the computer off, and disconnect the AC power-cord.
2. Remove the side-panels from the case.
3. Disconnect the "power" and "data" cables from the back of the CD-ROM.
4. Remove the screws holding the current CD-ROM in position.
5. Slide the CD-ROM out the "front" of the case.
6. Slide the new device into place, until the face is "flush" with the front of the case.
7. Screw the device into position.
8. Connect the data and power cables.
9. Reconnect the AC power.

Windows will "find new hardware", and will adapt itself.

Installing a new DVD drive

Step1::Ground yourself by first touching a metal object or wearing an anti-static wrist strap. This helps protect your computer's internal
components from damage due to static.
Step2::Shut down your computer and unplug it to protect yourself from electric shock.
Step3::Open your computer's case using the door on the side or follow the manufacturer's directions for your desktop.
Step4::Install the DVD ROM on its own IDE channel. Since a DVD ROM uses a good bit of memory, it should also be the master drive. Set your old
CD ROM or secondary DVD ROM drive to "slave" and set the new DVD rom drive to "master."
Step5::Slide the new DVD ROM in the free 5 1/4-inch bay and use clips or screw into place if necessary, then use the data cable that came with
the DVD drive to connect your new drive. Plug in the power cable as well.
Step6::Replace the cover on your computer, plug it back in and boot it up. If you have Windows XP, it should automatically detect and attempt
to install the new DVD ROM drive. If it doesn't, use the installation disk that came with your DVD ROM.
