My dell desktop, inspiron 530s has problems turning on. If i shut off the comp, it wont turn on, the light will turn amber instead of green on the tower and nothing will happen. but if i shut off my power strip to my computer, and then turn both back on, it works fine. What can I do to fix this?

Is the computer plugged in to a known good power source with a known good power cord? Also, make sure the power is fully seated on both ends. When you press the power button are you getting any indicator lights? The power button itself has an LED that will be either solid green, blinking green, solid amber, blinking amber, or off. Do you hear any beeps?
hello, you will have to remove power cables, and leave for a while then reconnect it and try again. check out my blog for more tips ; http://diyshelf.blogspot.com/
1- shut it down then open the computer box 2- find a green or blue jumper beside the memory slot or Data cable slots 3- remove jumper , then turn computer on wait for 10 sec then shut it down 4- put the jumper back and close the computer box 5- turn the pc on and have fun

The one method that will always work to shut down a frozen computer is to hold down the power button on the front of the computer until it turns off. When you turn it back on, it will give you an option of different startup modes, and unless it really is a serious problem, you can just go with "start Windows normally".
