My deskjet 5550 printer stopped printing in color it only print black ink i have replaced the color cartridge still only prints in blank only; i have tried calibrate printer and clean cartridge options; still only prints in black

Most of the HP printers are designed to allow printing onlywhen all cartridges are installed and
have ink.
Install a new tri-color ink cartridge and printing will continue as usual.
My printer, which is HP, does the same thing as yours, until I replace the empty cartridge,
printing stops.

Check the ink levels by opening the HP Solution Center. Click on "Settings." Click on "Toolbox." Click on "Services." Click on "Service this device." Click on "Estimated Ink Levels." A graphic will appear showing the estimated ink level in each cartridge.

2 Verify that the unit is on. Open the print cartridge door allowing the print carriage to move to the far right side of the unit. Once the print carriage has stopped, lightly press down on a print cartridge to release it. Pull the print cartridge toward you out of its slot. To replace the tri-color print cartridge, remove the print cartridge from the slot on the left. To replace the black or photo print cartridge, remove the print cartridge from the slot on the right. Place the cartridge in a plastic bag as it may still contain some residual ink and may leak.

3 Remove the new print cartridge from its packaging. Remove the plastic tape by using the pull tab, being careful to not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles under tape.

4 Slide the new print cartridge forward into the empty slot. Gently push the upper part of the print cartridge until it clicks into place. The tri-color print cartridge fits into the left slot. The black or photo print cartridge fits into the right slot.

5 Close the print cartridge door. If the print cartridge alignment sheet prints, load it on the left front corner of the scanner glass with the top of the page to the left. Verify that there is plain paper loaded in the input tray, and then press the "Scan" button to align the printer.

Аs far as I remember this printer can printing with only one cartridge inside it.Just pull out the color cartridge and try print in black only mode.

This is typical cartridge problem.Which cartridge changed?This printer can print with the only one cartridge inside it, whatever which.Try this: Open cover put out color cartridge then close cover.If blinking stops replace color cartridge.If blinking continues put out black cartridge and put in color.If blinking stops replace black cartridge, if not stop replace both cartridges.
If this not help your printer has problem in carriage unit and need repair.

When you go to print check to see in your print preferences settings to see if color or black and white is checked. Could also be the specific program's print options you are using to print the pages.

I just had this same problem on my Deskjet 5550 printer. The orange light (ink indicator) was staying on. I found out that all you need to do is just open the front cover to the printer. If your printer is running out of ink, the print cradle will move to either the far left or far right side. If it moves to the far left side, the BLACK cartridge is low or empty and should be replaced. If the print cradle stays on the far right side, the COLOR cartridge should be replaced. Normally, when you open the front cover, the print cradle should move to the center. Hope this helps!

you have not told that problem was starts after replassing the ink cartridge or for this problem you replased
the cartidge.
First reinstall the printer driver, then reinstall the
cartridge if problem iteel presists takeprints from outher printer
check whether there is a problem or not with the printing if its happen again with the other printer also then ther is a problem with your opereting system,if not presist then problem is in priners card.
I hope after cheaking these things you can able
to solve the problem.

Here's A Trick you don't really have to buy a new cartridge if it a bit low but here how you do the trick.On the place where the ink leaks out dip some water on it with a paper towel and replace it back on the printer and guess what there's ink!

1st page prints perfect but the 2nd page comes out with very light and skipped printing.
