My 7110 won't print or photocopy in color, and I just replaced the color cartridge with a brand new one, to be on the safe side, even though the old one wasn't empty. What's up???

The 7110 has separate printing heads than the cartridge unlike most other hp printers. these heads can be removed and cleaned (look up cleaning instructions) or replaced.

You won't be able to print if one of the cartridges is out of ink. The printer needs all cartridges with sufficient ink levels to prevent damaging the printhead.
Every time a cartridge is replaced, all colors
are primed simultaneously thus the need for all cartridges to have ink.
If it copies ok, then the issue is either the way it is cabled to computer or the print driver software settings on pc.... How is it connected via USB? Check port and correct driver is in windows/control panel/printers. Reinstall.
hey, sometimes there are faulty cartridges. i use to got some brand new and original from the shop and not working.. so try it with some old cartridge if you have.. you can also try to remove the cartridge and clean/wipe the contacts on the cartridge side and on the printer side (turn of the printer for safety)
Silly question from my side: have you removed the tape covering the nozzles of the cartridges? Is it original Brother cartridges, or is it compatibles?
None of the cartridges can be empty if you want to print. Even if you only want to print black, just black you need to replace the other three cartridges. Yes color laser printing is expensive.
in your printer try to press on the restart button and hold it for about 8 to 10 seconds. by the way the ink cartridges that you installed are the genuine ink cartridges, if not then its gonna be normal that it won't detect as new.
If what you're saying is still the result after cleaning everything up, there must already be something wrong with the printhead because the printheads are the one's that are responsible for the mixture of the ink cartridges.
Try calling HP Tech Support. They might still be able to replace the printheads for you.
On this series you cannot bypass for black and white printing. You will have to replace the colour cartridge, but be wared once you've replaced both if your print heads are also expired their warning will come up next and they cost about $120-$150 per set.
If they're still ok you will be back in business, if the message comes up next stating one of your print heads is expired, buy a full set as the messages only come up after the previous is cleared and they all tend to go on the same day.
I have the exact same problem. Changed color cartridge and no color either when copying or printing. Please help.
