Ghost writing on my Brother DCP-7030 all in one printer

Ghosting on machines can be one of several causes.

  1. Poor Quality/ Damp toner - Replace the toner cartridge

  2. Worn Drum Unit - Replace the Drum Unit

  3. Fuser Unit Failing - Replace the Fuser Unit (Normally more than the printer is worth).

  4. Damp Paper - Open a new ream of paper and try printing again (This is the cheapest option to start with diagnosis).

Error message "put the black toner cartridge back in"

I got this same error message on a newly acquired Brother DCP-7040 that I purchased used off of ebay.

As I was troubleshooting this unit (that I bought untested off of ebay - hey gambling has paid off handsomely for me many times before!), this error message kept popping up.

I checked the COUNTERS (page & Drum life) and found out that the DRUM had 0% life left. BUT, the reason it showed ZERO was because this unit did not have any drum! The toner cartridge (TN-360) needs to sit WITHIN the drum (DR-360) on this DCP-7040 unit, as well as in models DCP-7030, MFC-7340, MFC-7345C, and MFC-7440N.

So perhaps some of these "put the black toner cartridge back in" problems could be related to the DRUM (or lack thereof). A possible tipoff (since the toner cartridge actually does slide into the unit much like other units that do not use Brother's DRUM carrier) seems to be the relative ease with which the toner cartridge slides into the DCP-7040 and really doesn't seem to "lock" into position real firmly.

Brother 7030 printer drum end soon problem

that's not a problem, the printer warns you when your toner is soon to end. Get a new cartridge to replace it when it is all used up. Tip: Toner warning comes on early, you can get more pages out by taking the drum out and shaking it carefully.

I have a printer dcp 7030 brother company i am showing problem toner life end after reffling

I just had this problem and fixed it. The original toner cartridge that comes with the printer cannot be reset. You have to buy at least one new cartridge. The reason is that the original cartridge that comes with the printer doesn't have a reset flag. You can, however, refill/reset a cartridge that you buy separately. Pull out the drum and lift the cartridge out of the drum. Hold the handle and look on the left end. You should see a crescent shaped hole with a white flag/lever. To reset this, move the white flag all the way to the left (I had to use something to push it). Put it back into the printer and voila - it fixes itself. Then, after the printer has been reset, you can use the original cartridge again, if you want. The flag part won't matter once the printer has been reset. I hope this is clear. I know it worked for me, and I had the exact same problem.
