The internal screen on my LG Env Touch remains blank after opening. The interenal keypad lights up when opened, but not the screen. The phone did not get wet, to my knowledge, and was functioning properly...

Hi, most screen problems usually happen after a fall or a knock against a solid object. There are two things that might have happened here. One might be, the screen got a hairline crack and the connection to the lcd is broken. The other is that the lcd did not crack, but the connector flex cable is disconnected. The first requires a replacement lcd. The second requires an inspection to see if the flex is disconnected or broken. (You will have to open the phone). If you cannot DIY, then take it to a repair shop. Replacement lcd can be found on ebay.

Every picture i take of still objects turn out really blurred

How do you hold your camera? Holding it at arms length and viewing the subject through the screen will practically guarantee a blurred image with most cameras. You might get away with it with cameras equipped with Image Stabilization but not compact digitals.
Use the view finder and hold camera firmly against your face. Frame your subject, take a breath in then exhale, stop breathing momentarily and squeeze the button. (Don't forget to start breathing again!) If possible rest your camera on or against a solid object while shooting.

Line in middle of screen

Does the line show in the photos when you upload them to a pc? If so it's a faulty sensor. If not it's a faulty LCD display panel. Sensor faults like this don't always show in the electronic viewfinder as it has a lower resolution than the LCD screen.

Either way, unless you purchased your camera just as it was released you should still be covered by the manufacturer's one year warranty. If not then you're looking at a very expensive repair bill if it's the sensor and around £100 (still fairly expensive) if it's the LCD, but Canon are usually responsive to requests for goodwill repairs when faults as major as these occur just outside the warranty, especially when it's still a current model.

If you purchased the camera in the UK you'll have additional protection for up to six years (five in Scotland) under the Sale of Goods Act. Amongst other things, it says that retailers must supply goods which are of durable quality considering the price paid and intended use. A camera which cost around £350 new should arguably be expected to be able to take acceptable photos for at least four years, and you'd certainly expect items which do not affect the image quality such as LCD faults to last at least a couple of years. if the Act applies to your purchase, then you can claim against the retailer for either a refund (full, or a part refund to take into account beneficial use to date) or for a replacement (doesn't have to be new or even the same model.just one which substantially does what your current model should be able to do). In practice, it's usually best to approach the manufacturer first with costly faults like yours.

If your camera is still under warranty then I highly recommend Colchester Camera Repair Service if you're in the UK.

Won't focus

If the camera was dropped, it is possible that something was knocked out of place. That sounds very likely in your case. You should also make sure that the batteries are good. I have a Kodak camera that uses rechargeable AA cells, and they do not last long at all! Mine is a C-743, which has an actual viewfinder, though I suspect yours only has the LCD screen. Those idiots at Kodak think that cameras don't need those anymore, now that they have image stability programs. THEY ARE WRONG!

You may need a repair so expensive that you should consider trading it in for a newer model. These days it is hard to justify the cost of repairing a camera.

Back in the days of the Retina IIIC, Kodak sold some great cameras, and frankly I own two Kodaks now myself, a C-743 which is a pile of junk, and a Z-712 which I love. I believe that Kodak has some of the best image quality available on a digital camera, because they were one of the first camera companies to learn how to tame the contrasty CCD that actually takes the picture in these digital cameras....
