Installing HP Officejet 5600 all-in-one in Windows Vista

Download the all-in-one universal driver set from HP at:

Uninstall the software which you have already installed. from control panel - Programs and features

After you download the software and start the installation - Connect the printer only when it is prompted to.

If you have a windows vista and your installation cd for your printer is for xp then it will not work. What I suggest to you is go to www.hp.com select support and drivers tab, tick on the box that says download drivers and software, select your correct operating system then download the full feature software and drivers for your printer then install it.. If you get an error message when installing the driver then that is another story.

Officejet Vista Download

Save the file to your computer and run it from there.

You will need to remove any software you previously installed.

Also note that there are some critical Updates on that same page that should be installed.

Did you get an error when installing,or did it install. What happened when you plunged in the printer
when the software told you to plug it in, did windows say found new hardware and you let it install a windows driver or did you shut down the window so it would install the hp driver.
Go to start,control panel,programs, look and see if the hp software is listed,if not it did not install,
try it again.
With the hp printer plugged into your laptop, go to devise mgr and look under portable device,it should
show your printer model#, rt click on the model # and then on driver, does it say hp or windows,if it says
windows then the hp driver did not get installed, put in the disk, then click on update driver and pick browse computer, and point it to the disk.

HP has a vista driver for your printer, so you need to check the set up info that came with it to see
if the vista driver in on the disk. You can always just download the driver software from HP,pick the vista
one and install it. But make sure that the software is removed from the program list if it was in there before you install again. Hope it works out, its very hard to cover everything so if any more Q's

I think you are trying to install the all-in-one software in vista using CD. the CD is not compatiable with Vista. Please download the drivers from the below webpage and install the software.
