How can I reset the NIC on the WorkCentre 4150? I'm experiencing network configuration problems on the printer, and I was told a reset of the NIC would fix them. But I don't find in 'Tools' a command to have this done. Could anyone help me?

The 'Reset System Software' command does not reset the NIC interface nor the NVM. In fact, it is similar to power off and then power up again the machine, an operation that retain all the preset values. Even upgrading the firmware doesn't reset those settings.

What I need is to restore the network settings to the original defaults, erasing everything that could be the problem in my network environment.
Thanks if someone can be helpful

  1. From the WorkCentre, enter the Tools mode. See the Related Items below for additional information. The Tools Mode screen will be displayed.
  2. Select [Software Reset] from the Touch Screen.
  3. Select the [Reset System Software] button. A popup window will be displayed warning that jobs on the machine may be lost and asking for a confirmation before the reset is performed.
  4. Select [Confirm]. The WorkCentre will reboot the system software.

We are experiencing extremely slow printing with our 4150. It will print one page and then a large delay in printing other pages. Also a delay in starting to print.

go into the options.....and go into memory . you need to increase your memory thats whats happening . increase to the highest level and that will fix it.

Xerox 4150 prints from Macs but not from XP

Have you updated the machine firmware? At Xerox.com the machine firmware is there to download and install. Currently the firmeware is at level 10.100.45.018. Even if your machine is new you may have an older version of firmware.
That machine has had tons of firmware updates to it and uploading the machine to the newest level probably will resolve your problem.
There are some versions that fix 300 known problems at an update.
You have to follow the directions carefully, updating it can wipe out your LDAP settings if you use scan to E-mail etc.
If you have a maintenance agreement, or the machine is less than a year old, ( there is a one year on site warrantee on that machine for on site service) call 1-800-821-2797 and request a service call to update your firmware.
Those updates are really critical for that machine to operate properly.

Xerox Workcentre m20i - tcp/ip

Good evening niebs, The first thing I would do is eliminate the network connection as an issue. The easiest way (if you don?t have a network testing device) is disconnect the network cable from the printer and connect a laptop. Then configure the laptop using the same IP, subnet mask, gateway and DNS server IP you used in the printer and test for a good network. I would make sure I had Internet access on the laptop as well as the ability to ping. This test has the added effect of ensuring these numbers are in fact correct. If you have eliminated the network connection the next thing to check is the person who configured and maintains your network and servers. Checking with them will eliminate the possibility that they have setup the network to prevent anyone from connecting network devices without permission. By default I prevent my switches from allowing people to plug in other equipment that isn?t registered with me. That trick has saved me from a lot of problems over the years. You mentioned resetting the Network Interface Card (NIC) but I would go a step further, restore the factory settings on the entire machine and start from scratch. You might want to check with your network administrator to find out what you network switch connection speed is set to. If it?s set to auto make sure your print server is as well. If that doesn?t work try setting your print server to 10Mbps, half-duplex. I?ve had some problems in the past with auto not working correctly on print servers. If this printer is still under warrantee then I would get on the phone and contact the help desk, you might just have a lemon. Let us know how things go and please don?t forget to rate the posting.
