Optoma hd65 projector new bulb wont turn on...cant reset timer!

I have an Optoma hd65 projector.
The bulb died, so i replaced it with new one, projector turns on, fan on, but bulb never lights up.
After a few seconds the red bulb indicator on top comes on and stays on.

I heard you have to reset the bulb timer, but i cant access the menu since the bulb wont turn on!

I heard there may be a way to reset lamp timer on projector itself?

is this most likely the problem?

I have just replaced the bulb in my HD65. You do not have to reset the bulb timer before you can see the menu.
For those people who replace the bulb and the fan comes on and goes through a couple of cycles of high/low fan followed by red bulb light. If your projector is out of warranty then this may be worth a try.
I opened my projector and noticed that there is a small PCB (approx 1.5cm x 1 cm) at the front of the projector mounted on a bracket (you can easily see it when you take the cover off) with three wires from it red, black and white which connect to the main board via a little plug. I had knocked one of these wires off as they are extremely fragile and needed to solder it back on before the new bulb would turn on. Also it is critical that this board is put back on the bracket as if it is not in the correct position then the bulb will not light up.

I think it's a lamp driver issue from what I've seen others have gone through. I also read that if you go through the sequence of unplugging, plug back in, wait 20 seconds and try to turn on, multiple times, it will finally kick on and work. I just got mine to turn back on by doing this and waiting through the fan cycling without the light turning on. After the 4th sequence the light flickered. After the 7th sequence it finally turned on and is working. Now I can watch the Super Bowl and will look into replacing soon.

Same here. My bulb apparently burned out after only about 700 hours. I just bought a brand new replacement bulb and it still will not start up.

I have exactly the same problem with my Optoma HD65. When I turn it on the fan starts but the bulb does not light up. The fan goes through a couple of high speed/low speed cycles and then stops and the red bulb light comes on.

I thought it was the bulb the first time it happened but after letting it sit for a while powered off it started again. The next time I went to use it though it wouldn't start and it hasn't started since.

Any ideas or should I send it back to optoma for repair?

Try cleaning the filter. If the area where it is installed is enclosed this will also cause over heating.. Make sure you have adequate air flow in the place where it is located and clean the filter.

Optoma hd65 has a red light. Only had it for 5 months. How do you fix?

The red indicator light usually comes on when something needs attention. Most often it has to do with the lamp timer or the filter timer. The projector keeps track of how long it's been since you've changed the bulb or cleaned the filter(s). You can reset these timers in the menu. Be sure to clean the filter before you reset the timer

Try putting the bulb into normal (rather than eco) setting.
Check the bulb is seated correctly.
If this does not help you may have to contact your bulb supplier to see if they can swap bulb for you.

Our projector indicates that the light bulb needs to be replaced after replacing the light bulb once it still indicates that it needs to be replaced.

This is the excerpt from the manual on how to reset the lamp life timer.

Turn on the projector and use "Lamp Reset" after the lamp module is replaced.
Lamp Reset: (i) Press "Menu" ?§ (ii) Select "Options" ?§ (iii) Select "Lamp settings" ?§ (iv) Select "Lamp Reset ?§ (v) Select "Yes".
