This could vary quite a bit depending on your TV. Does your TV have A/V inputs? If so, how many sets of them? Are they composite or component inputs or both types? If your TV has these inputs, you will need to use the right cable or cables to hook up the DVD player. For Composite Video, the cable will have 3 lines, with red, white and yellow male RCA jacks. For Component Video, you will need 2 cables, one for the left and right audio inputs, this will be a shielded cable with red and white male RCA jacks and a Component Video cable which will have red, green and blue male RCA jacks. If your TV doesn't have A/V inputs, chances are your VCR does and you CAN hook up to them even though the owner's manual CLAIMS it won't work, it will, I've done it myself. In short, here's how to hook up a basic setup: The cable line in from the cable company hooks up the "Cable In" input on the cable box, Then run a cable from the cable box's coax output to the VCR'S "Antenna/ Cable In" connection. Another coax cable runs from the VCR's "Out to TV" output to the TV's "antenna/cable in" input. Now for the DVD player, look for female RCA type jacks on either your TV or VCR labeled "aux in" or similar, as long as they are INPUTS, not outputs and use the appropriate cable(s) to hook up the DVD player. If hook up through the TV, you will need to use the "source" switch on the remote to switch over to whatever inputs the DVD player is hooked up to for watching DVD's; if you hook up through the VCR, 1: turn the VCR on but don't hit play or record and set the "TV/VCR" switch on it to VCR. 2: Switch the VCR's Input switch from "tuner" to A/V in

Try hooking up your VCR, cable box and TV first.
That is very easy to do. Then with those cables in place then try the DVD

How do you hook up cords to cable box & television

WELL IT SEEMS U HAVE TWO PROBLEMS :
1ST YOUR rF SIGNAL IS NOT GETTING THRU , THIS IS A ROUND CABLE WITH A SCREW ON END TO IT , THIS ONE MUST 1ST COME INTO YOUR HOME AND GO TO CABLE BOX , THEN LEAVE OUT OF CABLE BOX AND ENTER VCR THEN LEAVE OUT OF VCR AND GO TO RF INPUT OF TV ( HAS TO BE HOOKED THIS WAY WONT WORK ANY OTHER WAY) SET OUTPUT OF VCR TO CHANEL 3 SET OUTPUT OF CABLE BOX TO CHANNEL 3 SET TUNER OF VCR TO CHANEL 3 , AND LAST SET INPUT OF TV TO rf CABLE ,CHANEL 3 , NOW YOU CHANGE CHANELS ON CABLE BOX only
2ND YOUR DVD PLAYER HAS NO RF OUTPUT SO YOU NEED TO CONNECT BY ONE OF THESE MEANS (HDMI, RGB, COMPOSITE) ALL THESE REQUIRE A DIFFERENT CABLE YOU DECIDE , THERE HOOK UP IS PRETTY MUCH ONE WAY SO I WONT ELABORATE ON EACH METHOD , BUT TV NEEDS TO BE SET TO CORESPONDING INPUT TYPE YOU DECIDED ON

How do I hook up the DVD/VCR to cable box and Vizio HDTV?

both should be hooked directly to tv

VCR side of combo should be hooked up with composite video(yellow, red, white wires) to video 1 input

DVD side of combo should be hooked up component video (red, blue, green wires and red white for sound)

cable box should be hooked up HDMI or component to TV if HD or composite video if SD

hope this helps

Just purchased a Magnavox vcr/dvd player and cannot hook up to our cable box

You have a line coming in to the box for the cable and a line going out to the Tv. The line going out to the TV goes to line in on the dvd/vcr and the line out on the dvd/vcr to the TV.

Connect tv vcr and dvd player to digital converter box

Yes you can first connect the converter box to the antenna first. Next hook the tv out on converter box to vcr in on vcr. Next hook the vcr out to the tv in and watch vcr and converter box on channel 3 sometimes channel 4.on the actual tv and of course change channels with converter box remote. For dvd player hook it straight to tv with red, white, and yellow cables that come with your dvd player. Then to watch dvd player if it's hooked up that way you have to put your tv on a input like video 1 or input 1. This can be done by using the tv remote and looking for a button that says tv/video or input or source button. This is some common names for that button on tv remotes.

Recording TV

Hi.. it looks as if that particular dvd/vcr is not compatible with the coding digital signals that the hdmi is putting out so it's not converting the signal over correctly.. if you try just using the regular analog cable instead of the hdmi, that might solve your problem.. i hope this helps..d
