HELLO

Make sure you have the deck set up correctly! Check the headshell - is the cartridge out of alignment or is the stylus worn?

Also, it may be that the counterweight is set too lightly for the cartridge and check the anti-skate control as well (example if the arm is tracking at 2 grams, anti-skate must be set at 2).

Follow these instructions for setting the counter balance:

Turn the weight so that the arm is just floating then set the balance ring (with the numbers on) you will see there is a line. Turn the ring not the weight to the ZERO mark where the line is on the top of the arm. Now turn the weight and ring together where it moves forward down the arm and set it at about 2 grams.

Now set the arm using the height adjustment that is the ring fitted to armboard and make sure the arm is straight (if not, the stylus will mistrack). Now try the deck again. You might have to make adjustments to the tracking weight again so whatever you have it set to, set the anti-skate to the same!

Good luck with it (:-)

The tone-arm on my turntable automatically stops too early. Is there any way to fix this?

Yes. you need to set the travel on your arm. I don't know your specific model but they are all the same concept. On the back by the pivot point there should be a small screw that you can adjust the travel before it returns.

Turntable skips regularly

Once adjusted to the correct weight for the type of cartridge then the arm should only jump on a bad record. If it keeps on jumping then either there is something wrong with the platter, being warped or a bad matt. Or there is something in the mechanism that is causing the jumps. Either of these two causes is possible if it does it in the same position on two different records.

Tone arm on technics Sl-BD22 lifts before the end of an album

the anti-skate is set wrong, this stops the arm skatting on to the label in the middle of the record & destroying your stylus tip.

Every record skips in different places

You should look for an anti-skate control on the turntable and adjust that. It will be a question of trial and error with it as there is no fixed rules for these. The weight on the back of the arm should be set to the weight of your cartridge.

Jensen JTA 450 turntable skips?

Try moving the arm up to the end of the vinyl, if it does go till the end of the vinyl then try adjusting your counter weights, a penny will do, if it doesn't go till the end of your vinyl then there's a mechanical problem check any obstruction at the botton of your arm.

I have a mid 1970s Sears turntable with am/fm, casette, and 8-track. It plays older vinyl just fine and even one new 45 but my new 33 skips a lot. Could it be the record, do I need a new needle, any...

My suggestion is ask a friend etc with a turntable to try the new LP and see if it bounces on there's. If it plays your old stuff it most likely doesn't need a new stylus. Records are records they don't make them any different to what they used to. Check the new LP, is it warped does it have marks where it jumps?

Tone Arm skips past first song

Hello, A. Do not try to close the case when there is a record inside!! The fact that the turntable cannot do this is not a design flaw--you'll be hard pressed to find a portable turntable that can close with a record inside because if you were to pick up the player with one inside, it could easily slip off of the spindle and scratch against the sides of the player.
B. Are you using the cueing lever to lift the tone arm before you place it on the record? Read the instructions to see where the cuing lever is (it's a little switch on the right side of the tone arm). When you lift it, the tone arm will lift up and allow you to position it wherever you want on a record, then you depress the lever to make the tone arm touch the record and being playing.
I hope that helps!

No matter what I do, I can't eliminate the occasional skip...

Try cleaning that lp with an anti static felt record brush, and look for either groove glide or d4 cleaner....Sounds odd, but ive ad records kept in tip top, climate controlled, and funk still gets in the groove.
