I haver the same problem. I purchased a new battery but still does not work. It spins and I can hear the dvd but no picture.

Screen is dark and picture is almost undetectable when unit is first turned on and a DVD is playing. After a few moments even that image disappears and the screen is completely black. Unit was purchased 27 months ago and has been used very little. I suspected the small white video switch, but no amount of tweaking seemed to help. I thought that the screen brightness had to be adjusted and the manual gavei nstructions on how to do that, but after pushing the Monitor button and the right and left arrows as instructed, nothing changed. Check to see if the little button that the screen closes down on (which turns off the screen and only the screen) is stuck, or jammed under the little hole that it comes up. This button is about the size of a pin on most DVD Players, and is located very close to the screen on either side.

1- put dvd inside the video player 2- wait for blue screen to pop up and you should hear music begin playing 3-press stop twice on your remote 4-enter the code 26604
cd-r80 are for music. Your best option is to buy a program like nero. I assume you are just dragging and dropping files to burn them right now. dvd's are more meant for backing up data or making movies because they hold a lot more data then a cd. Are you able to burn disc's at all? Just like all things involved with computers it can get complicated real quick.I hope this helps a little and if you have more questions let me know Thanks, Lee
have you tried a dvd/cd laser cleaning disk ,as the laser in the player gets dusty.you can buy these for a couple of quid from most corner shops or super markets
there is a safety brake wire that needs to be hooked up. If it was installed professionally, have them explain it to you.There is not supposed to be any video players in view of the driver while in motion. Stop your car and put on the parking brake. If you installed it yourself, you probably didnt hook up the wire. Look inthe install manual for DVD safety wire.
Yes does not read DVD-R because if your LS50 Labeled like this (DVD/CD-RW) means that can read only all DVD Disc and cannot write on DVD blank only CD blank.
You can burn only on the blank CD-RW or any blank CD.
The only thing you can do is unplug your video out lead from your dvd /cd player while playing it, also check your menu on your sony to see if it has a blank raster setting to activate. Second, why would you want to listen to a cd thru your tv, unless you don't have a stereo or surround sound system to play it on, of which I would definately have anyway. Hope this helps...
