Lots of static & noise during calls

Hi...I've had this phone for a year or so and it was fine up to a few weeks ago. There is an incredible amount of static and noise during calls...and even when I just turn either handset on to get the dial tone. It's almost impossible to have a conversation. I have no new electrical devices near either phone. Any ideas? Thanks so much...really can't afford to get another phone at the moment.

First, do you have any other phones? Have you eliminated the phone line itself as the problem?

If there are sound problems in multiple cordless phones and the problem is not in the wiring or the line, than the base unit is transmitting a poor quality signal. Try tapping the base unit to see if the problem changes any... light taps up to a typical knocking on a door strength taps are all that should be necessary.

Noisy bobbin bounces in case

If you just had serviced a month ago I would take back and tell them to fix the problem you did not have before they serviced it, or try calling maybe then can advise over the phone.

AT&T Design Line Telephone 146 - static on line

Check the cord from the phone to the handset - wiggle both ends to see if you get more noise. Could be a bad connection or bad cord.

I've had my my Logitech speakers for a few months now and they've worked fine up until a few weeks ago. Now if I turn the volume up more than a quarter of the way the sound goes scratchy and...

the speakers plug/outlet is usually at the back of the computer you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make sure the connection is good
or you might have to clean the dust from your computer dust causes static which causes your computer to overheat and all sorts of problems
be sure to wear an anti static earth strap before touching anything inside your computer try cleaning your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the CPU central processing unit and your SOUND CARD dust causes static to build up in a computer causing it to overheat any many other problems
hope this helps

We have a lot of static and loud buzzing on the phone

I had the same issue that started on some 3 year old 5.8 GHZ Uniden cordless phones. I moved it from room to room and same buzzing. I found a older Uniden set I had kept in a desk drawer. I swapped out the power transformer (power cord) and it is clear as a bell now.

Lots of static heard during use of this phone.

Time for a new phone. Most likely there are some bad solder connections and they could be anywhere. A 2 year old battery should not cause such severe problems so I'd spend the money on a new phone before a new battery.
