My HP6500 Officejet will wake up from sleep mode to receive faxes
My HP6500 Officejet works perfectly in auto answer. However when it enters sleep mode it will not answer any faxes that come in. If you wake it up it works perfectly. The fax shares a DSL line. The ring settings are set to ''All Rings''
I have solved the problem by loading new drivers. Interestingly HP to no mention the issue as being solved by the driver but it works.I have solved the problem by loading new drivers. Interestingly HP to no mention the issue as being solved by the driver but it works.

go to menu option and choose the option fax and set the parameter like auto receive or manual set the ring auto answer mode after certain ring. If it is in auto receiving mode it will receive the fax after the ring which you set. Hope this helps. Please rate my response. Thanks. Have a good day.

You could try these two suggestions from HP support. The semi-full reset will affect quite a few settings. Perhaps you should copy down these settings for reference later.

The answer mode determines whether your HP All-in-One answers incoming calls or not.
•
If you set the HP All-in-One to answer faxes automatically, the HP All-in-One will answer all incoming calls and receive faxes. Set the Auto Answer setting to On.
•
If you set the HP All-in-One to answer faxes manually, you must be available to respond in person to the incoming fax call or your HP All-in-One will not receive faxes. Set the Auto Answer setting to Off. For more information on receiving faxes manually, see Receive a fax manually.
If you do not know which answer mode to use, see Choose the recommended answer mode for your setup.
To set the answer mode
1
Press Setup.
2
Press 4, and then press 2.
This selects Basic Fax Setup and then selects Auto Answer.
3
Press right arrow to select On or Off.
4
Press OK to accept the setting.
Is tel line going into correct socket of fax? (Line not Ext.)
Is Fax set to auto answer or manual?
If you pick up line or press speaker button can you hear other fax sending if so press start and hang up you should receive fax, and you have just proven that machine is in manual receive mode!
I think you will find it will wake from sleep automaticly if setup correctly.
It does not matter, it should wake up as soon as a fax is coming in, the problem is most likely that the fax set-up was improperly done. There should be a setting to tell it when to pick up, after two, three or four rings, if you have an answering machine, time date. Those need to be set-up for it to work.

This was fixed by loading the latest set of drivers from HP.
