The CMOS contains the current BIOS settings

  1. Turn off the computer and disconnect the power cable from the electrical outlet.
  2. Remove the computer cover.
  3. Locate the 2-pin password connector (PSWD) on the system board.
  4. Remove the 2-pin jumper plug.
  5. Locate the 2-pin CMOS jumper (RTCRST) on the system board.
  6. Move the 2-pin jumper plug from the password jumper to pins into the CMOS jumper.
  7. Plug in AC power to the system and wait ten seconds for the CMOS to clear.
  8. Move the 2-pin jumper plug back to the password jumper.
  9. Replace the computer cover.
  10. Connect your computer and devices to electrical outlets, and turn them on.
Location of the RTCRST Jumper will vary by platform and form factor. For more information about the jumper locations refer to the system service manuals located at www.dell.com/support/manuals

How to disable Hard drive password

Did you clear your BIOS to rid yourself of the bios password first? Just making sure you are really looking for the hdd password (which you set while setting the BIOS password I assume) There are some tools out there to help you remove/rest the hdd password but lets be sure that's what you need to do first. Be warned, the tools don't always work and unless you remember the password you might be looking at complete data loss and a new hard drive.

How do I delete or reset a new system password, and a HDD password so that I can set a administrator password on a optiplex 390 i5 window 7.?

If you do not have the current passwords, it's going to be a bit of a problem. The BIOS password mostly. Contact Dell Support: http://www.dell.com/us/business/p/optiplex-390/pd Perhaps they will give you a one-time BIOS password. If it's a login password, you could try a Full Factory Recovery. If someone put the passwords in , I would ask them, that's the easiest way.

I want to remove system password

Hi, If you want to remove the system or Bios password then clean the Bios. Reconfigure the motherboard jumper settings. It will remove Bios password. If you want to remove user password then go to the user accounts in control panel open the user by double click and remove the password. If you can't login then login by safe mode in administrator account and do the same as before.

Bought a dell optiplex gx270 and has Setup password. Is the a way to delete or remove the setup password ?

Many computers reset BIOS by removing the CMOS battery.Wait several minutes then reinsert it and restart your computer.

Some computer require a pin jump to reset the BIOS password2_bing.gif. Check your owners manual.

Bios default password

The BIOS default password is just blank, and it is not asked.

When you set a bios password, you are asked to enter a value, therefore if bios is asking the password, the password had been changed.

To reset the bios password if you do not know the password you need to access to motherboard and temporarily remove battery for few seconds.
Removing battery will reset bios and delete the password.
Unplug power cord before accessing the motherboard, and try not touching the motherboard with your finger.
Put battery back in place before restarting computer.

Administrator password

If you don't have to enter a password to access the BIOS, you can go in and remove the requirement to enter a password on Bootup.

Otherwise you can unplug the computer from power, unplug the power supply, and then remove the battery on the Motherboard to clear any stored BIOS and Bootup passwords.
