How do I remove administrator password on the BIOS of Optiplex 390
The CMOS contains the current BIOS settings
- Turn off the computer and disconnect the power cable from the electrical outlet.
- Remove the computer cover.
- Locate the 2-pin password connector (PSWD) on the system board.
- Remove the 2-pin jumper plug.
- Locate the 2-pin CMOS jumper (RTCRST) on the system board.
- Move the 2-pin jumper plug from the password jumper to pins into the CMOS jumper.
- Plug in AC power to the system and wait ten seconds for the CMOS to clear.
- Move the 2-pin jumper plug back to the password jumper.
- Replace the computer cover.
- Connect your computer and devices to electrical outlets, and turn them on.
Location of the RTCRST Jumper will vary by platform and form factor. For more information about the jumper locations refer to the system service manuals located at

Try dell's site. If they don't have window's 7 drivers, try the vista drivers.Get onlineand got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "DellSupport" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operatingsystem when requested. Download and install the Network drivers. You can also try Driver Guide at:http://www.driverguide.com
How do I remove a system admin and domain from a used computer I just purchased?
Microsoft says the only way is to restore the computer from a set-up disk. This re-installs windows and recreates administrator account. Unfortunately you also loose all your data.
For your Dell-
Hold (Ctrl) whille tapping (F11) at the Dell Start up screen. When it asked for Reboot or Restore, Selecting Restore will return your Dell system to factory settings. Warning there is no going back after the rebuild is started.
How to disable Hard drive password
Did you clear your BIOS to rid yourself of the bios password first? Just making sure you are really looking for the hdd password (which you set while setting the BIOS password I assume) There are some tools out there to help you remove/rest the hdd password but lets be sure that's what you need to do first. Be warned, the tools don't always work and unless you remember the password you might be looking at complete data loss and a new hard drive.
Dell error code 2000-0151 incorrect status 28
That error indicates an "incorrect status" of your optical drive. I suggest you run the Dell diagnostics on your drive. To test your CD/DVD drive from the utility partition:
1. Reboot your system. When you see the Dell logo, hit F12 to enter the boot menu.
2. Select Boot to utility partition.
3. Select Test System.
4. Select Custom Test.
5. Use the arrow keys or mouse to select your CD/DVD drive.
6. Insert a CD or DVD.
7. Click Run Tests.
8. Write down any error messages.
Download network driver
You can download the LAN and device drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Tag label is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where the specific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you select the Windows of the drivers for your Windows operating system. good news the not told at all PC screen is not dead.
a major fact but lacks all evidence like:
1, No PC told no OS told xp to w11
2: fans spin? all do, psu ,cpu and gpu card if fan.
3: Optiplex is a desktop 29 years of models made wow.
4: you mean Dell Splash logo. yes, and then it does the post bar, if post bar stalls that means hardware gross errors.
sadly no PC model told of vast versions. wow.
just wow hopeless that.? but is par here, and vast wrong answers just for that fact alone.even mine.
i have many optiplex PC here old and new and my fav is 9020MT or smaller my oldest is 380(in storage)
is your coin cell dead. (if yes can NOT be ignored)
my dells all have F12 diagnostics,
power on and hammer F12,, pick diag eSPA and run it
older PCs dell if the HDD is dead the F12 diag is dead. due to being located there back long ago.
my dells have a BIOS log page,
go to BIOS the click tab, LOG
read the logs. see what fails. (coin cell RTC sure)_

Dell OptiPlex 3020 Desktop computer startup problem?
What is the exact error that you are getting? Do you get any blue screens? Have you installed any software recently or made any changes? I can only suggest checking the power cables and trying to use a different cable or spare if you have any for now.
