Engine starts but mower won't move forward of back. Any ideas what is wrong?

if the pedal is slack then check the linkeges to the gearbox. check the trans belt, if its a hydrostatic gearbox then check the dump valve is fully pushed in and there is sufficient hydro oil (if there is an oil tank)

My mower will die everytime i engage the blades to mow

Check to see if one of your deck spindles isn't seized. Disengage the blades and turn each blade to see if its free. Sounds like either a spindle is seized or your electric clutch on the motor has a problem.

check the connecting rod to the tranny. follow the gear handle and you should find a rod connecting the handle to the axle make sure you're in neutral and adjust the rod until the handle starts to move

When backing up the mower blades shut down and won't come back on when I try to go forward again.

on most riding lawn tractors you most first disengage the blades before going into reverse moving the tractor stop, put the tractor in a forward gear then re-engage the blades. if this dose not help please contact me. Thank you

You have governor with a missing spring or it could be in the wrong place. If the springs are all OK then you may have a bad governor gear in the crankcase. This engine is bad about the governor gears bending the governor gear shaft.
