Win I turn on pc the screen is white. I can move the lid up and down it just comes on.

The switch that turns off the screen when you close it is out of adjustment. Adjust that and your issue is resolved.

The circuit tape that runs from the computer board to the screen has a broken filament, it must be replaced.

Please test using an external monitor first,this will exclude motherboard issues if the external display is normal.Nearly all screens turning white that I have observed is a screen fault requiring replacement.

When you say you move him, do you mean lifting the unit and moving to another location or just moving the lid (changing angle of the lid/lcd)?

If changing the angle of the display gives you black/white screen, you may be having problem with the LCD cable, it might be loose or defective. But if moving the unit to another location gives you the black/white screen, one component of the unit might be loose. Either you need to properly reinsert the memory of the harddrive. If these simple steps will not resolve the issue then you might need to check the whole motherboard including the connection to the LCD.

There are a few things to check that would cause the empty light to go on and the mist to stop.

Rinse the lid on the bottom of the blue tank. After you rinse it with warm water, dry it and then push the spring on the outside of the lid, it should move easily. Check the inside of the lid and make sure the rubber gasket is securely in place.

Remove the spray guide, and on the base of the humidifier to the side of the ultra sonic disk is a small white plastic pole with a washer-ring around it. This is the float, make sure it moves easily up and down the pole. Use white vinegar on a cloth or paper towel and wipe the pole down.

Reassemble the humidifier, use room temperature water in the tank, set to warm mist and let run for 30-40 minutes. Please make sure the humidifier is on a flat level surface, no carpeting or towel underneath.

You'll have to live with it. It's taken damage, it's not repairable, it's only replaceable. My Latitude screen was replaced after only 2 1/2 years.

This is normally a screen cable problem. You must contact a computer technician to check the cable for you. If it needs to be changed, you will be told. Since it works when you move the lid, it should only be a cable problem.

your monitor is telling you it's on it's last legs..either that or your compaq has a bad video section. either is more vital than a video cable being loose.
