You can download content to a Philips GoGear multimedia player using Windows Media Player or MusicMatch Jukebox in Windows. Earlier versions of Windows starting with 2000/ME and XP are compatible with GoGear. If the device is not recognized by the Windows XP operating system or is receiving error messages, you may have older versions of the necessary software installed. There also may be firmware issues with the GoGear device.
Instructions
Connect the Philips GoGear to another USB port on the computer. Sometimes USB ports go out, especially those in the front of the computer case. Try inserting the GoGear into another port and see if XP can now recognize the device.
Download Service Pack 1 or later for the XP operating system (see Resources). Philips GoGear can only operate on XP systems with at least Service Pack 1 installed. You may also receive an error message pertaining to the service pack when trying to insert the installation disc for the GoGear support software.
Install the latest version of Windows Media Player. Philips GoGear requires at least Windows Media Player 11. Windows Media Player 11 is available for XP .
Install the latest version of MusicMatch Jukebox (see Resources). Earlier version of this software may be causing error messages regarding missing MP3 tag information and missing tracks. Follow the download prompts, then unzip the folder and click on the "HDD_xxx.exe" installation file. The latest version of the software will be installed.
Install the latest firmware on the Philips GoGear. The actual firmware required depends on your GoGear model. Open either Philips Device Manager or Songbird, depending upon which management software you are currently using. Close all programs on the computer except for the Device Manager/Songbird. Connect the GoGear to the power supply and the computer. Click the "Repair" tab in the Device Manager and click "Repair," or click "Tools" in Songbird and select "Check for updated firmware," and the firmware will be updated on the GoGear.
Okay, Media center does not work with some Wintv HVR's yet it will work with the software it came with and sometimes media center will use the wintv software to make it work but its sketchy. If you want a more media center compatiable card look at www.microsoft.com website they have a list of media center compatable Tv tuner cards, Trust me I am having the same problem with my tuner card now and its not wintv its a RCA and its under windows 7 this is just the thing here not all card work with media center.

Windows need to be installed on one of the primary partitions (not logical ones). What's more - the partition they are installed on needs to be active. More info on disk partitioning can be found here.
One way to fix boot manager problems is to start recovery console - it is described here. Next you need to log into your installation and type to commands: fixboot and fixmbr.
If you right click My Computer /Manage/
1. Look at Device Manager. Do you see any "!" marks by anything.....maybe your drive.
2. Look in Disk Management. Do you see the drive there? Have you added any USB or other drives to your PC recently? If so, it could have taken the place of your drive's letter. You may need to change the drive letter.
Hi candy man1, I found the link to your Toshiba Satellite L25-S121. What I was looking for is drivers for your notebook but I found little in that area. (As seen at this link:) http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/askIris.jsp With little information, (A manual in English would be nice). I could guide you to enter the bios & check if the sound device is enabled or set to auto. (It may be set to disable). The link above includes, (Toshiba PC Diagnostic Tool for Windows XP/2000). You can download it & install it. It may help find the reason your notebook sound is not functioning. (The single beep at start up is normal). Please run windows update service for your notebook. Click the start button & slide to All programs. Listed at the top should be an icon, (Window Update), click on it & it should run. Let me know how things go. Post here.
insert your pen drive again and see whether your system recognize it. go to my computer and right click on the pendrive icon and select format , then clink ok.
If you have windows XP check : control panel / Sound speech and audio devices / Sound and audio devices. Then check that the volume cursor can be moved and that the device is not muted. If this doesnt work remove the sound card from device manager, and install it back using drivers from your recovery disk or download them from Toshiba website.
I have XP Media Edition w/SP2 and I see the M240 as a Media Device and NOT a hard disk, AND it has MEDIA and DATA subdirectories only. Media has to go into the MEDIA subdirectory to be seen/read played.
Now, on my plain XP system, the M240 it shows up as a disk drive with different layout. There is no MEDIA directory, so putting files into the mass storage device letter will lockup the unit.
I haven't tried Media Player 10 solution, but if you have one of these, do NOT put files in it unless you see the MEDIA subdirectory.
