My DVD Wirter does not read dvd files

Not compatible or not working well with windows 7?
(making a program work with windows 7)

Maybe, It doesn't work because the driver/application you installed is for other versions of operating system. I am also using windows 7 like you so don't you worry, You can still use your old installer/driver from other versions of operating systems. Just remember that before installing any program in a windows 7 Operating System Computer, Use "troubleshoot compatibility". Right Click the Icon of your program installer/application first, then choose "troubleshoot compatibility". This will allow you to choose on what type operating system your program will run. Just reply back if it still doesn't work.:D rate and vote for me:)) julyallan01_52.jpg

Problem with mass storage controller's driver

I was able to find drivers for this device which turns out to be an SD Card reader built into the laptop. Here is the site I found it on: http://www.toshiba.com/tai/support/support_cons.jsp
You'll want to click on "Computers and Accessories" on the left hand side, and then select "Laptop Computers".
Upon selecting the correct model, I found all the pertinent drivers for my laptop.
The Category, which is the middle column on the drivers page, is going to be something along the lines of "Driver Flash Memory SD"
Good Luck!

Sony DVD RW AW-G170A will not install

Code 39 loadTOCNode(2, 'moreinformation'); Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Resolution:

Reasons for this error include a driver that is not present; a binary file that is corrupted; a file I/O problem, or a driver that references an entry point in another binary file that could not be loaded.

Uninstall the driver, and then click Scan for hardware changes to reinstall or upgrade the driver.

On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to start the Troubleshooting Wizard.

Is that the actual model number?

Nowhere does that item exist on SONY's support page.

If so, it may no loger be supported....

Keep me posted.

Driver for my Toshiba ( windows XP )

The drivers are particular to the hardware installed in your laptop, such as the bios, the sound card, the cd & hard drives, and so forth. Some must be either saved from your existing installation before reformat and reinstall, or downloaded individually from their respective websites. Some others are more universal and are included in the XP installation. It just depends...
So for the Sony DVD drivers, you may have to go to Sony, and so forth.
Here's Toshiba's support link:http://sdd.toshiba.com/main.aspx?Path=ServicesSupport/DeviceDrivers
If that doesn't help, you may have to go to the device manager in xp and check each device and download the correct drivers and updates for that device.
You may find what you're looking for here: http://majorgeeks.com/downloads35.html,
An alternative, not tested by me, is to install and use a so-called driver utility, that claims to be able to scan your system and detect the needed drivers and updates, and install them for you. In that case, take a look at the featured software on this page: http://majorgeeks.com/downloads28.html
Let us know if this sorts it out, or if you need further clarification.

Startup windows

First do a general cleaning then delete any programs from start up that you don't need. Delete any un needed dectop icons.

The biggest problem for slow start ups is because of a corrupt or bloated registry. You need to clean and repair it.

Windows is looking for programs that are no longer there or corrupted, the default time for windows OS to wait is 30 seconds before it gives up and moves on. So if you have a lot of bad registry files this will really slow a computer down. A lot more info can be found here - http://registry-repair-program-reviews.com

SONY DVD RW AW-G170a

This is a problem with the DVD Writer model. SONY DVD RW AW-G170a has problems reading DVD+/- R/RW Discs. But there is no problem with any of the DVD+/- R/RW Dual Layer, DVD Ram or CD+/- R/RW Discs. It is the reason that this DVD Writer lacks the correct bitsetting for DVD+/- R/RW Discs. There is nothing else you could do other than replacing the wirter with some other model.
