Belkin N1 Router connection drops when phone rings

If I am connected wirelessly via my Belkin N1 Router to my ISP - COMCAST - and my telephone rings (verizon), the wireless internet connection drops. I've called Comcast and they say that the prblem lies with the Belkin Router and they can't help me. This is extremely frustrating and unproductive. Does anyone else have this problem ?

You may have a phone line connected from the modem to a wall outlet. Count the number of cables coming out of your modem - you should have only three: the power cable (connects to the wall), Cat 5 (also connects to the wall), and ethernet (running from the modem to the router).

The other possibility is that your phone is on the same bandwidth as your router. Do you have a cordless phone? If so, what kind?

I have a Belkin N1 Vision Wireless router and its performance is poor, i have checked it via the pingtest site and it constantly has a packet loss of 20% or higher and poor stats re ping and jitter tests...

The first question I have is have you tried connecting to router via wired and wireless and ran the tests to see if the issue is with your wireless signal.

Then next thing to look at is connecting your modem to your computer and run the same test because the problem could be with your connection in your area. Note even through your modem is working properly you still could have bandwidth issues in your area and your ISP may not tell you that there is an issue like that in your area.

The last thing to look at is how long you have had the router for. If you have had the router for serveral years it is possible that it is just time to have the unit replaced.

Let me know if you have any more problems or questions.

My Belkin n1 router disconnects from telstra every 2 hours - exac

This is a known problem with the Belkin N1 Vision Modem Router. The router keeps time by connecting to a Simple Network Time Protocol (SNTP) server every 2 hours. The solution is to go to www.belkin.com and download and install the pre-release firmware which is supposed to fix "A problem where the router could drop some connections on 2-hour intervals" among other things.

N1 Belkin to HP notebook - connection speed drops to 24mbps

It might be because of other electronic devices that works nearby in similar frequency...devices lik microwave oven, inverters, modems provided by the ISP which comes along with a battery backup, especially RCA modem which doesnt allows other wireless devices to work nearby it... try to relocate the router to a well ventilated area, and make sure you have kept the router atleast 5 feet away from other electronic devices...it could help....

Belkin N1 wireless router drops offline

The connectivity issue with your Belkin router could be due to a couple of different items. Your ISP might even be able to shed a little light on the subject.

I would also go to Belkin's website, and go to the support area by clicking on Support Center in the left pane of the sight. You can then search for your product number. With the results that you receive, you will be able to see what version of firmware they have, which is like doing a software upgrade on your computer. There should also be a step by step process on the website for you to install the firmware. I would do it from a desktop that is connected physically to the router.

Please let me know if you would like further assistance with this matter. Thank you.

Recently had a Belkin Wireless system install at home that keeps dropping the line in my room so want to use ASDL cable to connect to my computer what is the best modem card to get to do this

Your ISP should provide you with an external modem that would be connected to your phone line, then you would connect the modem to one of the wired connections on the back of the router, or directly to the back of your computer.

However, if you insist on an internal modem, I would suggest either a U.S. Robotics or Encore brand.

Belkin n1 wireless usb adapter

Dear Friend,

1. Connect your ISP modem to your PC and configure as Bridge mode.

2. Remove your ISP modem and connect your wireless router to your PC and configure as PPPOE mode. (refer http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/reviews/article.php/3645166 if any doubt on configuration)

3. Now connect your ISP modem to wireless router, The modem should connect to your WAN cable.

4. And Give the wireless router's IP in your laptop as Gateway (In TCPIP settings of your Laptop wireless adapter / or configure DHCP)

5. Now you can access internet on both systems.

Downloads locks up - Belkin N1 Wireless Router

I had the same problem. My Belkin N1 Router was constantly dropping the WiFi connection (every few minutes). I tried several solutions I found on different forums:
Change the channel selection from Auto to a specific channel -- I tried all 13 channels, but no improvement.

Update the firmware to the latest (Beta) version -- still no improvement.

Finally I enabled "Protected Mode" and the connection seems fine now. Hope this helps, and good luck!
