SOURCE: Brother Printer Cannot Print in Black

This could be because of several probs: 1. The ink cart is not original and wont let the ink flow, because the valve is not open. 2. There might be air bubbles within the capillaries. 3. The ink is not genuine ink and has pigments in it. Solution: see here, too: http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public/us/us/en/faq/faq_top.htm?reg=us&c=us&lang=en&prod=dcp110c_us Insert another ink cart. Use, if possible, the genuine ink cart from brother. Do the cleaning cycle twice. This will extract the air bubbles out of the caps after the second time. If you dont have any success the printhead is clogged and cant be cleaned anymore!

SOURCE: brother mfc 465cn printer

If you remove the empty cartridge, you will see a small window on the egde that plugs into the printer, in the center. This is where the printer optically scans for ink levels. On the empty color cart, you can try covering that raised spline with electrical tape or by coloring it with a black permanent marker. That should fool the sensor into thinking your ink is full.

SOURCE: BROTHER MFC-210 PRINTING IN BLACK INK POOR QUALITY

Try cleaning the black printer heads several times in a row, at least 5 times then print a black document with best quality setting.
Press the ink button, then down to select select cleaning and then press menu/set and menu/set again to select black.

SOURCE: black ink will not print. Colours ok

Get a syringe, remove the needle, remove the ink cartridge and use the syringe to blow air GENTLY through the hole the cartridge connects to. Make sure you have a cleaning cloth to remove ink dislodged from pipe connected at the print head, do this gently to remove any obstruction and there should not be too much mess and can easily be cleaned up.

What can i do my brother dcp j125 printer not function black ink

Check whether the ink tubes from the ink to printhead is filled with black ink. Bubbles also will cause it not to print. Always use original inks for trouble free usage.

Brother MFC-290c printer does not print black anymore. Test print page color ok but not black printing. What is the problem?

The problem is either:

* out of BLACK ink -- replace the ink-cartridge

* clogged ink-jets -- the ink is not spraying onto the paper, so run a few print-head-cleaning cycles

* dead electronics -- not triggering the jets to spray ink, so replace the printer

Brother MFC-290C not printing black

Hi,

The nozzle may be blocked. So take out the colour cartridge and place its nozzle in a bit of water for about 10 mins. Bring it out and dab the nozzle with folded paper. If the tissue is blotted with the three colour it means you have unblocked the nozzle. Try now to print after returning the colour cartridge. You may need to repeat to get good results.

Thank you!!

Printer wont print black.already replaced with new ink but still wont print black

did you take the tape off the new cartridge and is the print head burned out for the black? if you installed the diagnostic's on it then run it and see what it says, otherwise expect the print head to be cooked, however it is possible to get a bad ink cartridge try tapping it on your finger and see if ink comes out if it does not then the ink cartridge is dried out or no good, about %15 of print cartridges are bad on just about any brand printer some more than others.

I Need to Print

Sadly in a word, 'No'.

Here is the exact answer from Brother:

Your Brother machine is designed to stop ALL printing operations
(printing from the pc, printing received faxes and printing copies or reports) when any of the ink cartridges are empty. This is to ensure the life of the print head and maintain premium print quality. If the unit were to continue printing, print jobs and cleaning cycles would suction air from the dry cartridge and damage the printhead. Even if you print in black only or change the print settings to MONO or GRAYSCALE to avoid printing in color, the programmed cleaning cycles would still suction the dry cartridge, because they are programmed to clean ALL the ink nozzles.

The only way to continue printing is to replace the empty ink cartridge or cartridges.

While memory is available, black and white faxes will continue to be received into memory. If a color fax is being received, the Brother machines HANDSHAKE will request the fax be sent as black and white fax.

All faxes received into memory will automatically print once the ink cartridge is replaced.

NOTE: Brother strongly recommends that customers do not use generic ink or refill their Brother ink cartridges. Using non-Brother supplies may affect the hardware performance, print quality and machine reliability since the ink formulation in genuine Brother ink cartridges prevent smearing and clogging of the print head. The Brother limited warranty does not apply to any problem that was caused by the use of unauthorized third party ink and/or cartridges.

INK

Brother multifunction printers require that all ink be filled before you can print to it. If any ink is empty, you cannot print, even if you are printing only black.

Brother problem

Did you use third party ink? If the ink is pigmented the filter in front of the printnozzels is clogged and cant be cleaned any more. What you can try is to buy a brand new original brother ink cart and do the cleaning 3 times. After that do a testsheet printing. In case its OK, your lucky and it was a problem of the cart. If you cant see any blocks (with the original ink used!!!) the printhead is crashed and has to be replaced (BTW: Its cheaper to buy a new mfc)! Do use only dye ink for brother printers!!!
