Your machine has 4 DIMM slots. They use PC3200 (DDR400) DIMMS (184-pin). The machine comes pre-installed with 2, 256MB DIMMS providing 512MB of RAM. The largest DIMMs available in the DDR PC3200 are 1GB. If you keep what you have, you can add an additional 2GB of RAM, for a total of 2.5GB. If you are running WINXP 32-bit, this should be more than acceptable. You can replace all four DIMMS and get 4GB of RAM, but a 32-bit OS can only access a little of 3GB of RAM. If you want to come close to maxing out under a 32-bit OS, remove one of the installed DIMMS and add 3 1GB DIMMS. These are old memory and may be hard to find and actually cost more than newer memory.

Id-pcm7g not recognizing memory

You are using Windows XP 32bit? If so, your OS will only use a total of 3.80GB's, or so, of DDRII 533 Memory, no matter how much you add. Make sure the Memory is the Same type, DDRII 533, in all slots. If you have 2 slots add 1GBx2, for a total of 2GB's. Verify it's fully seated. Need memory

It is what it is, that is , there is no way to upgrade the memory of this machine. see: the specs. The memory is soldered in on the motherboard and no provisions to add. You can use a USB drive to store items on or a memory card.

I have a dell dimension 3000 and i want to upgrade ram

Hello,

Best thing to do is to go to www.crucial.com and run their system scan. It will tell you how much you have, how much it will hold, and what kind of RAM you need.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Phone book memory

The vast majority of cell phones not only have internal memory but external as well allowing you to add an additional 1-4 gb's of space.
That will allow you to hold alot more than 3000 contacts.

When looking for your phone just make sure you check the specs, it will specify if you can add additional memory or not (most do) This way you won't be limited to a phone just because of internal memory space. You can pick one you like, as well as fit your needs.

Thank you for choosing Fixya! Hope this shed some light on the issue.

Toshiba A75-S211

You can do either.
I suggest that if you want to double your memory capacity is to buy another memory module with the same specs and size as the existing one, preferrably from the same manufacturer.

Adding Memory to Gateway 420r

If you mean a Gateway 420GR (there's no "420R" listed on their site), then you can have up to 4GB of RAM and you can use 1GB modules. Here's a link to the specs page on their site:

I have an acer extensa 5620-6830 with 1g memory on a dual core which means I only have 512m for each core. Right? What is the most memory I can add and not having done this before what kind of memory chip...

DUAL CORE refers to the amount or cores your PROCESSOR has, Memory indicates the TOTAL amount for the WHOLE SYSTEM, NOT the cores or the precessor. You should be able to max out your memory @ 4gb, but check your machine specs at Acer website for Max amount and type.

Acer Aspire T-180 Memory Upgrade question

Hello, You might be able to add 2GB more. 1GB per slot. You need to get the model # off your motherboard and verify what the maximum amount of memory it will support. 1GB per slot would be 4GB total but some Operating systems will only support 3GB. So some might be wasted if that is the case. You would need to use the same memory type. So if existing is PC2-4300, use the same. Hope this helps.
