SOURCE: Printer claims black ink cartridge is empty, but it can't be.
Hi, one possible solution that we can provide on that issue is reseat the ink cartridge. If issue still present after reseating the ink cartridge we need to isolate it. Try replacing the ink cartridge with a new one. In some reason the chip on that ink cartridge might be damage thats why even there's iblack ink on that ink cartridge the printer still detected it as empty.

I own one of these printers and refill cartridges for a living. When you get this problem its best to return the cartridge for another, thats what I do for my customers.
When buying re-manufactured cartridges its best to buy from a local store and ask about there return policy before making your first purchase.
If you are buying from a reputable re-manufacturer then this will be a very rare problem. It happens with genuine HPs too.
BTW this printer uses HP 74 & 75 inks. when buying re-manufactured buy the HP 74xl which gives (according to HP) 750 printers compared to 200 from the HP74. Remanufactured HP75s are fill to HP75xl capacity.

Under the cartridge is a black like pump - on a new cartridge this is hard and rests firmly on an area inside your printer. As you print, the pump becomes softer - this is how the printer determines it is empty. Once refilled, the pump does not get back to the original state. Open the bottom of the cartridge and put a firm solid piece of folded paper in there - make sure it is steady and re-close cartridge. It will now read as full but may also show full - judge ink levels by the quality of print. Also make sure chip has not expired.
