Not drawing any moister from the selected area or any where in my home

If the motor is running check for a cold evaporator coil that wrings the water out of the air as it passes over it. If not cold, then the unit may have lost its refrigerant.

We have two Danby Premiere Dehumidifiers. Both have stopped picking up water. The filters are clean, the fans run and there is alot of moisture in the air? Any ideas on how to fix them?

I assume that you have already:
  • Emptied the water buckets.
  • Are sure the buckets are properly in place.
  • Are sure the bucket switches are not stuck in the full bucket position.
  • Cleaned the cooling coils.
  • Verified that the controls are set for a low humidity
  • Verified that there are no trouble lights or codes,
  • Know that the area to be dehumidified is well above freezing..
It sounds like they are both stuck in defrost mode or the compressors overheated and need to cool off. "Both" is a bothersome word. Both might imply a power surge that wiped out the controls. I would:
  1. Unplug them and let them cool off 36 hours.
  2. Check your manual for a control panel reset.
  3. Take off whatever covers I could, to let me touch the cooling coils to be sure they get cool.
  4. Plug in # one and reset the panel.
  5. Let it run and see if the coils get cold.
  6. Plug in # two and reset the panel.
  7. Let it run and see if the coils get cold.
And then decided what to do next. Hopefully the cool off and reset did it .

Good luckl.

How do I add oil to fan motor

well 1st remove power plug from outlet
next remove cover of unit and locate the cooling fan
its about ten inches round and has blades on it kinda like a motor boat prop , in the center theres a shaft and then a motor , it's most likely a open frame type (has no cover to it) there are two brass bushings one on front and one on back put 3-4 drops of oil into each ones center, and spin fan with your hand several times to work oil in, wipe up any that runs out , put cover back on and run it normaly

Why the pump doesn't work?

if by pump you mean compressor this is cycled on/off by the humidistat setting if your having a problem with it not ever running then ck your setting for the room %rh this maybe higher than the room is and unit will not start till room rises up to that level , also verify that power cord is plugged into a live outlet ck this with another known good appliance or table light

Turns on but the motor doesn't run anymore

If it is the compressor it will be best to just replace the unit as repair will exceed the cost of new. If it is the fan motor it would be feasible to replace. To determine would require the use of a meter to see if motor gets voltage. If nothing works it could be as simple as a new power switch. Unfortunately in this venue I can only surmise. I wish you luck!

Lamp(60watt bulb) dims slightly when dehumidifier starts up. The dehumidifier outlet is downstream of the lamp outlet. This dehum draws 5 amps at steady run, not sure what it's pulling at startup. Wiring...

The dimming is probably normal, especially if the motor is a split winding type that has a start and a run winding. Ususlly, it will use a capacitor also. You can view the wiring diagram to see if this is the case.

Compressor runs, overheats and shuts down..fan does not run...

I have had the same problem. Following the advice of someone on these pages I opened the machine up and checked the fan with a meter. On my model (the 404) it has two settings so two leads; one seemed okay, the other was dead. I checked the circuit where the fan connector plugs in and I got that both speed settings were supplying plenty of juice. Apparently the fan motor is dead. A replacement runs $79 at http://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/. I ordered one; we'll see what happens.

M7DH45B2A dehumidifier does not have auto restart when power goes

No. I went away for a week and set mine up in the tub. Power went out and it was off when I got home. You could buy a UPS ( unterruptable power supply) from the computer area in Walmart and hook it up to it. This would allow it to still run for a while and if the power came back on while it was still under battery power it would run like it was running. You can buy larger UPS units that would keep it running for longer amounts of time. Just an idea.
