Problem with draining water through hose

I bought one of the FDL70S1 Frigidaire dehumidifiers today for my shop, and found that the $5 hose I bought to drain it through the floor wouldn't tighten down completely, allowing the hose to twist and wobble, a sure indication that it was not water tight. Simply adding a second washer, as described in another answer here, allowed me to tighten the hose sufficiently to produce a tight fit with no play between the hose and the dehumidifier. It hasn't leaked. I know it is a threads-per-inch issue, and I am stumped as to why Frigidaire would supply these units with a different thread pitch than the standard GHT (garden hose thread) 3/4" - 11.5 tpi. The threads on the unit appear to be 3/4 NPS - 14 tpi. Go figure!

We have a Frigidaire 70

This happens quite frequently. It''s due to a clog in the hose or the a clog in the hose connection tubing. If you unit has a float valve in the top of the bucket, be sure that it's not stuck in the UP position. To resolve clogging problem, do the following:

1. Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit. Disconnect the hose from the unit
and check for clogs and remove them if necessary.

2. If no clogs were found in the hose, the clog is in the hose connection tubing. Use and 18"
long, plastic ZIP Tie, appropriately sized to fit in the hose connector tubing. Carefully insert the
Zip Tie or something similar (NO Wire coat hangers, though) into the hole and continue to push
it in until you reach a bend in the tubing. You will need to gingerly work it past this bend, until
the ZIP Tie either bottoms out or you run out of usable ZIP Tie. Then while rotating (Twisting) the
ZIP Tie slowly pull it out. As you reach the inserted end of the ZIP Tie, be prepared for some
water to follow.

That should solve the problem. Be sure the hose is no longer than 5 feet and that it slopes downward from the unit, with no kinks in it.

Hope this helped you solve the problem. Please let me know, Thanks.

Dehumidifier freezing up

Good Morning Friend, I understand that your Frigidaire dehumidifier, model# FDL25P1, is freezing up. First, if your dehumidifier has been turned on recently. This is normal due to refrigerant rushing through the coil. Frost will usually disappear within 60 minutes. Secondly, make sure the room temperature is above 41 degrees Fahrenheit. If it is too cold in the room, the coils can freeze. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. -Best Regards- WP

My 25 pint frigidaire humidityfiyer

Ellen, there are 5 basic, yet solvable reasons for what you described. Please pay particular attention to numbers 1 & 2..

1. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32-35%. If you have an analog unit
(no LED screen), set the humidity extraction knob on Maximum.

2. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the
Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter.

3. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.

4. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to
clean the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.

5. Ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees.
dehumidifiers do not work well between those temperatures
(Unless, you have a Low Temp Unit). This applies mainly to
where the air temperature at floor level is colder than at shoulder level
in basement applications. Raising the unit up off the floor,
onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc, that can handle the weight
of the unit, plus a full tank of water, will usually resolve this
problem.

If none of the above solves the problem, it may be a case of the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas or that the humidity condenser sensor has failed. These things usually occur in units that are 5 years old or older. It's rare in a unit younger than that. But, it can happen.

I hope this helped you to troubleshoot & solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

It starts for about 2 minutes then says it is full

Robert, check the float valve in the top of the water collection bucket. It sounds like it may be stuck in the 'UP' or Full position. If that's the case, jiggle the arm of the float valve to get it to return to the DOWN position.

Hope this helped you.

The unit begins and after a short time the unit stops.

it sound like the unit is very low on r134a refrigerant and in being so the compressor is overheating and the thermocouple sensor on the compressor body is shutting off power to compressor to keep it from burning up

most dehumidifiers will freeze up when it gets below 70 degrees. if where you are running it is below 70 degrees, then you need a different style. whirlpool makes a model specifically designed to run in colder climates. best buy or other that has whirlpool stuff.

Where is it leaking at, can you tell? What brand / model of dehumidifier is this? It sounds like you may have gotten a faulty unit, but since it's so new it should be under full warranty still.

Please let me know what kind it is and I will check it out.
