LG LHD45EL Dehumidifier Questions & Answers
The unit starts but the fan dont run
It made no sense to me that despite no visual issues, the fan motor is bad. So, with further research it turns out that the true culprit is the small thermistor/thermal fuse between the orange wire (ground) and motor winding wire. The thermistor is taped underneath the silver aluminium and yellow tape on the fan motor. I heard about this bad (open/no continuity) thermistor makes almost >99% of the fan motor problem regardless of any brand name because this cheap c-fram fan motor is NOT made in USA. I opened the motor, there is a silver (aluminum wrap) around the windings for the motor that needs to be cut. Careful not to cut the motor windings. Inside there is a thermistor or type of temperature sensor connected between the orange wire and a motor winding wire. On my motor this was no longer working.
The part marked "JET 123 NM1 2A 130C" is a thermal fuse. The 130C is the temperature rating. When the motor get hot (130C / 265F) the fuse opens. The circuit is broken and the motor stops.
The motor is still good. The fuse is blown. It must be replaced to get the motor running again. You could bypass the fuse but then you invite a fire hazard.
A replacement fuse is available from Digi-Key. It is a Cantherm SDJ1 DF128S (128C):

You might want to go with the next higher temp (141C):

Code (CH) (01) on front panel, what does it mean?
I believe it is a water tank code. Re-seat the tank, unplug wait 15 seconds and replug the power cord and see if this resolves the error.
Background relating to other possibilities.
When the water bucket reaches its capacity, the bucket switch opens to shut off the dehumidifier. If the bucket switch fails while it is open, it will prevent the dehumidifier from running. To determine if the bucket switch is defective, use a multimeter to test it for continuity. If the bucket switch does not have continuity, replace it.

I have the exact problem with my LG LHD45EL as lubbock51's Aug 17, 2010 question. (see below) Isn't there anyone out there that's had this same problem and resolved it. I too am afraid to pry the grill for fear of breaking it...it made out of plastic so it won't take much to break the grill if I did.

I have an LG LHD45EL dehumidifier.
The manual shows removing the front grille to clean the coil by
placing a hand on each side and pulling toward you. Mine won't budge
and I'm afraid to pry the plastic in fear of breaking it. Any
suggestions?
No water collects in our LG LHD45ELY7
It can be recharged but you would first have to locate and fix the leak and then refill. Then add a schraeder valve and refill at the port till suction line is cold to touch and starts to sweat. That's it!

A dehumidifier works like a low powered air conditioner where a fan draws air through a refrigeration unit which cools it and condenses water vapour and collects it in a container.
There is likely to be at least one air filter so some cleaning of the air takes place and such filter(s) will need attention periodically and in addition most manufacturers claim their products need servicing every 3 years.
Best results will be obtained when the room is closed and ventilation minimal and the capacity of the machine is more than adequate for the space where it is sited. A room with an open window or where the door is opened frequently is not really a suitable site for a dehumidifier.
It is important to choose a machine that is somewhat too large as efficiency will fall between service intervals.
It is quite possible a manual for a different but similar model by the same manufacturer will provide some useful information...
How do i make it
Attach a length of garden hose no longer than 5 feet, to the threaded drain hose connection that was supplied with your unit, to carry water to the drain.
1. Remove the drain-hole cover on the back left side of your unit.
2. Connect a garden hose to the threaded drain hose connector.
3. Push hose connector tightly to the drain-hole on Rear Grille with the arrow on the tab pointing UP.
The hose attachment will accept a standard garden hose fitting.
Do not over tighten the hose when connecting it to the hose connector,
use a rubber washer and tighten by hand firmly without stripping the
plastic threads.
When being attached to hose connector drain hose connection,
do not bend or kink the hose. The hose should lie flat from the
dehumidifier to the drain.

I own this dehumidifier. To connect it to a garden hose for drainage you first need the special connector pipe/adapter that comes with the unit. It's white plastic and about a foot long, It may be stored in the top of the bucket drawer, where it ships from the factory. Your hose connects to the threaded fitting on one end. The other end is inserted into the hole in the back of the unit. You slide it straight in until it mates with a drain connection inside the unit. You can see this black pipe connection if you pull the bucket drawer all the way out and look in the very top right hand corner of the opening of the unit. Once the white tube is fully and correctly inserted you'll find two plastic tabs on the tube near the hose connection. The larger tab points straight up and blocks the tube from being inserted too far. The smaller tab points down and hooks into the slot in the bottom of the round opening to keep it from getting knocked loose. Your dehumidifier should now drain through the hose instead of into the bucket. Of course, be sure your hose is routed across a floor to a drain or sump pump located lower than the unit, since the water flows by gravity.

If the water bucket has not been emptied the until will not start. If it has, be sure that the bucket was reinstalled properly in the holder and is making contact with the Water Level Control Switch on the back wall, inside of the bucket holder. The bucket should be installed "squarely" into the holder from top to bottom. The bottom of the bucket should not tilt down at the bottom when installed properly.
Hope this helps and thanks for choosing FixYa.
