How do you get Print head stuck to the right unstuck? Attempted to clean print head, etc. through Additional Funtions-Maintenance, and printer sounds like it's moving the print head over, but it doesn't and then there's a click, click, click. Also, display reads wrong cartridge. Can this be fixed?

SOURCE: "Wrong Cartridge" - what to try next?

Cleaning won't help this one, you need a new printhead,QY6-0034-010. It only says wrong cartridge when the printhead is burned out.

SOURCE: Canon MP530 print head malfunction

I had the same problem with my printer. There is a switch that tells the printer that the cover is open or closed. Unplug the printer. Open up the printer cover and look on the inside right side edge. About half way back, you'll see a 3/4 inch by 1/2 inch hole where this switch resides. If you put your finger into it, you may be able to push on a lever and it will go down. It should spring back up when you pull your finger out. If you can feel the lever but it just sits at the bottom then there either this lever is broken or the spring fell off.

The problem with my printer was the spring had popped out. To access the switch, you'll need to remove the right side cover. Do this by removing the two screws in the back on the right side. Open the printer cover and find the third screw. It is located on the right hand side, near the front of the printer, on the top. Remove this screw and pop out the cover and see if you can find the spring that is attached to the lever. Make sure you do this in an area that if a small piece fell out you could find it.

Look at the switch and lever. If there is no spring attached to the lever then it is most likely the problem, otherwise the switch may be bad or the electronics inside the printer. There is a hook on the lever and one on the printer. Reconnect the spring and it should fix the problem. I found my spring had completely fallen out and fell on the floor when the cover was opened. It is possible that this spring if fallen out can fall back inside the printer so you may have to shake the printer to find this little spring. It is about 1/2 inch long. Hope this helps.

Black ink in printer not printing out but color ink prints out fine

The black print head is faulty or blocked.
Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent ink drying out and blocking the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer than replace the print head.

Clean the printer head

Go to Printers and faxes and right click on your printer and click on Properties - Maintenance tab - then select Cleaning or Deep cleaning
Try the printer maintenance to clear the printer nozzles.
After several deep cleaning attempts and there is no improvements in the printthen a new print head is required.
A new print head maybe expensive and it maybe more cost effective to purchase anew printer.

Black ink is not dispensing right

Clean the print head then print a demo sheet.

  1. Verify that inkjet paper is loaded in the paper trays.
  2. On your desktop, start the KODAK All-in-One Home Center, then select the Help [?] icon.
  3. From the Help menu, select Maintenance, then select Print head Cleaning. The On/Off light flashes green during the cleaning procedure.
  4. When the On/Off light glows a steady green, press Photo and Copy simultaneously to print a demo sheet.

If the Demo print is bad- IE: no black, blurry print etc., then you may need to replace the print head:

Bought used BJC-85 - feeds paper - won't print with new cartridge. Must have been dry too long. Where do I get a print head for it? Or a cleaning kit? I need it right away for a trip.

No need to change the print head. Just carry out all the maintenance tasks with the new cartridge. Make sure that you remove the thin plastic film from the ink pad. All you have to do is to click on printer/faxes in control. Click on properties in the drop down menu. Click on the maintenance and carry out each task i.e. print head cleaning, alignment, nozzles cleaning etc.

No Printed documents

Have you performed a print head cleaning? If not, follow the instructions below:

1) Press <Menu> on the panel repeatedly until [Maintenance] appears on the display

2) Press left or right arrow buttons until the cleaning setting you want appears, either [Head Cleaning] or [Head Refreshing]

3) Press the <OK> button.

Note: Head cleaning should be attempted first, and may need to be done more than once. Examine the results of the test page.

Head refreshing is more aggressive, uses more ink and should only be performed when necessary (ie. when multiple head cleanings failed to solve your print problem).

Epson R320 "General Error" message - unable to clear

If you are getting a 'carriage jam' error as soon as you turn on your Epson printer with no tasks in progress, then check for any piece of paper stuck in the carriage. Remove the paper carefully. If the paper tears, part of it might remain inside the paper path and damage the product.

Fix 'Carriage Jam' : Open Door, clear carriage jam,
and then press OK to continue' error message
Turn off the printer and open it to see where the paper is stuck.
Manually move the carriage toward the opposite side.
Check the paper path and remove any piece of paper or any other object that is stuck in the path.
Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.
