my dvd wonT work when i put cd in it it give a noise and dont deTecT cd or dvd
SOURCE: Acer Aspire 5920G wont play dvd, it wont even recognise them!
If it recognises cd but not dvd it means the drive is faulty. There is 2 lasers one for cd and one for dvd. The dvd laser is faulty. It also means that it is not dirty lens because it reads cd's.

I'm guessing you may have locked the DVD region. If you right-click on the device in Device Manager and click the Region tab, does it say 0 changes available? Acer won't fix this, and claim you have to replace the drive. Can't find a firmware flash for this drive online, will post back here if successful!

did you snap the strip cover off the top? The bar that has the power button and everything? Once that comes off the keyboard should be able to be disconnected and replaced easily.
Testimonial: "Yes, had figured that out since, but thanks - New Keyboard is in"

Click Start
Click Settings
Click Control Panel
Click System
Click Hardware
Click Device Manager
Click the '+' to the left of 'DVD/CD' branch of the hardware tree.
Double-click your DVD device.
Change the region.
Note that you can "change region" only about 5 times, before the DVD will "lock" into a specific region.
