Don't think it's the scanner. I replaced scanner computer and when trying to use Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1.1, I get the error message that no page was found in the scanner. However, using CapturePerfect 2.0, it scanned no problem. Anybody have this??

Lift up the black frame around the large soft grey pick rollers on the upper part of the paperfeed until it locks into place. Power off scanner and back on and the trya will lift and the paper will feed.

Though this was reported long back, I just saw this and writing my comments. I hope it is useful to someone.
To check if the tray is lifting, keep some papers and press "Count only". If the tray does not lift, then there could be some cable problem (most common). Blow air and clean all holes in the paper path, actually they have sensors under them. Depending upon the error that is displayed, you can figure out where the problem is. All errors starting with "P" are paper related, "C" are cover related and "E" related required and Engineer/Engineering support.
The tray is lifted using a motor which is below the control panel, through a set of plastic gears. If by accident, the user gives pressure on the lifting tray, the palstic may deform and even when the motor works properly, the tray may not lift. You need to replace the plastic fears.
I can tell you with my eperience that Canon 9080C is a very reliable work horse.

Have seen problems with wiring going to sensor. Canon makes a great scanner, but the wiring can sometimes be flaky. When things are done right at factory, it works great for years. The wiring is very small and will sometimes break or be disconnected at sensor.

Documate error 8

Hello.

I am a Support Engineer with Xerox Scanners.

E8 is a Paper Jam error that could be caused by:
- paper crumpling during scan.
- paper is multi-feeding all at once instead of feeding separate.
- scanner continuously tries to feed after paper has fed through.

if the paper is crumpling during the scan, make sure the inside of the scanner is clear of any obstructions. use the paper guides in the ADF tray to keep the paper straight when feeding in.

if the paper is multifeeding while scanning, fan out the pages before inserting them into the scanner. if problem persists, try cleaning the rollers with rubbing alcohol and a lint free cloth.

if scanner tries to continually feed after the paper feeds through, the ADF tray will need to be reseated. open the scanner and remove the ADF tray at the top. line up the 4 keys at the bottom of the tray with the 4 corresponding key slots inside the scanner. push the tray back until it clicks into place.

Scaner doesn't work. It alway show the error message: "No page was found in the feeder. (-4401).

Pls try page counting in the local mode, If the tray lifts, then you know the sensor is ok. else, wipe clean the two black spots just under the rollers and try. Normally these sensors dont fail.

I have a canon 6080 scanner. getting a error "no

Clean the two 'black dots' in the paper tray, just under the roller. They are actually paper sensors. Try 'page counting'. If this works, the scanner is okay. If the problem still persists, try reloading the scanning software.

Scanner is not taking the pages and it is showing error message 4401

Please explain the problem more clearly.
Switch on the scanner, load some papers and try 'page count'. If it works, then there is no problem with tray lifting or paper movement. If this is not working, try 'Qumatool' and give a command to lift the paper tray. If it lifts, then the problem is with a sensor under the paper lifting tray. (It may not be in HP - Home position). If the tray is not lifting, then you may have problem with motor. S. Mohan, Chennai, India

Unwanted verticle line on fax copies

Most likely a fax has been sent or a page copied with 'white out' (Liquid Paper), still wet on the page. As the page feeds over the scanner, (a narrow strip of glass that runs across the width of the page along the feed path) the wet liquid paper comes off on the glass as a thin line and dries. Thereafter, when copying, scanning or sending a fax, the scanner light does not go through the liquid paper streak and the result when printed is a thin vertical line that runs the full length of the page. If this is the cause you will also find that faxes you send to other people will also have this line (although faxes you receive are not affected by this problem with your machine).

To fix the problem: follow the path that the paper travels when sending a fax or making a copy, until you find the scanner (narrow glass strip). Take a clean, soft cloth and a small amount of methylated spirit (or white spirit) and remove the now dried Liquid Paper from the glass. Clean the whole strip ensuring that the glass is left clean and dry.

Scanner pulls page in to just past the bottom sensor lever

Please ensure that the rollers are clean and within its life span. (Rollers wear out and need to changed after 250,000 pages or as recommended by mfr). FAn the pages before scanning, Ensure the edge is trim with no folds or bends. The griniding noise is because the scanner has picked up more than one page.

Incomplete feed

try correcting the page width and make sure one page goes through at a time also you can press the bottom of the paper and it will feed better

Color streaks on ADF feed.

Sounds like a dirty seal glass.
The small srtip of glass on the left side of the scanner.
Clean it well.
If there is no streak when scanning on the flad bed portion, then there is most likely a small almost non visible contaminant on the seal glass.
Use a regular piece of 20 pound paper crumpled with some glass cleaner or alcohol and clean that glass thorughly

Scanner excludes front page

This is not the only solution, but this might help.

Put a blank page in as the first page and see if all of your documents scan completely.

You may need to clean the ADF. Try the following:

Cleaning the Automatic Document Feeder
You may need to clean the ADF feed mechanism if your
documents do not feed easily into the ADF, or several feed in at the
same time.
To clean the ADF:
1. Dampen a soft cloth with some isopropyl rubbing alcohol
(95%).
2. Press the ADF cover release on the top left of the scanner body
to open the Automatic Document Feeder cover.
3. Wipe the feed roller from side to side. Rotate the roller to clean
its entire surface.
4. Wipe the pad from top to bottom. Be careful not to snag the
cloth on the springs on either side of the pad.
5. Close the cover when you’re finished.
NOTE: Please be careful when cleaning the roller. The roller is
designed to rotate in one direction only. As you’re cleaning the
roller, make sure it rotates easily, and continue rotating it in that
direction while wiping it clean. Do NOT force the roller to rotate
in the opposite direction. Forcing the roller to rotate will damage
it, and may cause the scanner to feed pages incorrectly.

Please let me know if this has helped and thank you. Binary Bob

Dr 6080 4401 error code

Wht happens after the comp displays 4401 error? Does the system hang? If you can still use the comp, then forget it. Frankly I have not faced this error. But freak errors like these can be seen even if your OS files are damaged. Try reinstalling the OS in another partition. If the scanner works fine in the new environemnt, you can be sure that some files are damaged.
