F11 doesn't work as fullscreen toggle for Windows 8

I used to have a laptop w/ Windows Vista, and I always used F11 to toggle fullscreen for Firefox, Minecraft, etc. I recently upgraded to an HP 2000 running Windows 8 (now Windows 8.1) and F11 no longer works. Instead it just mutes and unmutes. Ctrl + F11 works for Minecraft but no other programs. The toggle key is set for Firefox as F11 but not even Ctrl+F11 or Alt+F11 works.

Have you tried the fn key (bottom left, next to ctrl key)?

On my HP laptop running Windows 8.1, pressing f11 mutes the speaker (as per the logo on the key top) and fn+f11 in IE & Firefox toggles full screen.

Testimonial: "This worked, thanks! I had been unable to find the answer!"

SOURCE: cant get scanjet 2100C to work with Windows Vista

Unfortunately, HP doesn't support Vista for that scanner model.

However, some have reported success using windows 2000 drivers on Vista.

You can give the windows 2000 drivers a try here:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=59554&

Be sure to unplug the scanner from the computer BEFORE installing the driver / software.

Asus 1005ha down arrow suddenly began toggling full screen

Try this:
Go to your computers manufactor and download the systems frimware drives (BIOS,Motherboad, etc). look to see if they have any drivers for the keyboard. This could be the result of corrupted drivers gone heywire.

Good luck!

I have a sylvania notebook, and it runs so slow. It is running off of Internet Explrer 6, I have tried downloading mozailla firefox, google chrome, internet explorer 9, and it wont let me. Everytime I try...

Your netbook doesn't run Windows XP, it uses a cheap version called Windows CE, which is more designed for phones. The reason that you can't install Firefox or Chrome is because Windows CE doesn't support programs designed for Windows XP, Vista, or 7. You can try installing Opera Mini by going to m.opera.com, but there no guarantee that it will work.

Monitor is enlarged, wont return to normal size

You may have hit the "F11" key which takes the open window to fullscreen. "F11" toggles large, small... If not that, beboot. If that doesn't clear it up, then the display settings have gotten altered. Right click on the desktop, select "settings" and increase the resolution. Windows should prompt you to keep or reject the change. Select yes or no when prompted.
