your laptop came with system recovery disc. no need for you to use product key if you will use that disc. if you lost the disc, then use a retail version of windows xp then download the drivers and software from esupport.sony.com
Did your camera come with a software or driver disc for installation in XP. If it did then install the disc in Vista and then go to the Sony website and check for an update or patch to the driver software for your particular model and apply it. I have a DVD camcorder and and solved the problem in the same way. Else the only way is to capture video through the firewire port if your camera has one. This is not going to need any drivers at all.
THESE UNITS HAVE SOFTWARE ISSUES. THE ONLY WAY TO HAVE IT FIXED, IF "IT IS THE SOFTWARE" IS TO HAVE IT SENT TO SONY FOR SOFTWARE UPGRADE. THE UNITS USE UNIX AND THE CODE IS NOT OPEN. PER TO WHAT SONY SAYS YOU NEED TO. Please send the unit to Sony Service Center for upgrade. 1001 Technology Drive ( PCSC) Attn: Materials/Door 27H Mt Pleasant PA 15666 Or Sony Electronics (LCSC) 10227 crossroad loop, suite C Laredo, TX-78045
First you will need to find out what sound card you have. if it is a computer you bought in store. than should be able to get it from there official website. example dell/ dell.com if you have sony than it would be sony.com. if you don't have a brand computer. you will need to know which company is your sound card. and than search the companies card on google.com or yahoo.com. after you have gotten the driver you will need to burn the driver to a disc. a regular cd would work fine. i would recommend a flash drive. it is much easier and much faster.
You just answered your question......."all drivers I assume present and ok" update your drivers..how old are the drivers for WIN98? how old are the drivers for XP. These are relevant to having the correct drivers for the correct operating system. The benefit for you is that you are running to operating systems seperately on two drives or am I mistaken. They need an update on the drivers for each OS and not a firmware update one is hardware the other is software? Your problem is the software.
All answers received are to finalize the discs or use Sony discs. Both were tried but nothing. I realize the camera was working Ok with Windows 2000 but that happened when I migrated to XP.
HAve you solved the problem as I see your post is very old.
I am also having problems installing SONY's DRD-VC20.
Cannot find the driver anywhere!
