My printer shows 15V CTL FAIL. see manual. so the solution

If the Printronix P5010 line printer displays the 15V CTL FAIL message on the screen, use these steps to resolve the issue.
1. When this error code generates on the printer's screen, it might indicate an issue with Ribbon drive (Right), Ribbon drive (Left), +15V Regulator, and Hammer bank Interface.
2. If the issue is with the ribbon drive (Right) & (Left), then do these steps below.
The resistance on the motor should be checked.
To ensure that there are no opens or shorts present in the printer, check the continuity on the Extension cable.
Search for the binding on the motor.
Also, check for the obstacle in the ribbon path which might cause excessive load.
3. If the problem is occured due to the +15V Regulator, then do these steps.
Redownload Flash software and replace Flash Memory SIMM.
Check or Replace Hammer Bank Logic Cable Assy and Hammer Bank Power Cable Assy.

If no fuses blown you probably have an issue on your +15V and -15V power supply regulators, this can be tested by checking opamps supply voltage which should be +15V at pin-8 and -15V at pin-4, let me know further.

I want exat reson for "15v ctr fail see manual" error as i am unable to resolve it. So, please help.

This is a 15V power failure, but refers usually to the ribbon drive.
Here's a PDF with these things explained and the areas of the circuit board involved.

You won't find a better document for this failure than this one, but look it over thoroughly.

Basslink works for a few seconds after i turn on the stereo, then it fades away. The servo light is always on even when i disconnect the input line and turn the knobs to the min level. What could be wrong?

Hello, check the +15v and -15v on the Switching Power Supply Control board. If one or both are missing, it is probably Q117 for +15v and Q118 for -15v. If one is missing the limit comparator will rail to one side and cause the auto variable volume control to trip the servo protection.

Why do I have 15v going to my cam position sensor. It should be 8v.

Only way you can get 15v anywhere is if the voltage regulator in the charging system has failed or your meter is inaccurate. Check meter against another known good one and if good, go for the regulator (can be in the computer or alternator depending upon which system is in yours) Nothing in the system should ever have more than normal battery voltage...12-14max.

15 Volt CTL fail

Hi Serap,

If a fault condition occurs in the printer, the status indicator on the control panel flashes on and off, and the message display indicates the specific fault.

For the operator-correctable faults, After correcting the displayed fault, press the CLEAR key to clear the error message and status indicator and resume printing. If the fault message reappears, contact your authorized service representative.
If a fault is not correctable by the operator, you may try two steps to clear the fault before calling your authorized service representative:

1. Set the printer power switch to O (Off), wait 15 seconds, then turn the printer on again. Run your print job again. If the message does not appear, it was a false indication and no further attention is required.

2. If the message reappears, press the CLEAR key. If the message disappears, it was a false indication and no further attention is required. If the message reappears, call your authorized service representative at 1-800-243-3338.

Message Explanation Action 15V CTL FAIL* Controller voltage failure. Contact authorized service representative.

As far as software for the flash file is concerned , I have checked with their officaial sites , but they donot have any firmware updates.
